Kenya
Overview
Those living in the slums of Nairobi make up over half of the population, but are forced to live in only 5 percent of the city’s residential area. Surviving from day to day in these congested conditions is near impossible. Forced to live with deficient housing, little access to clean water and sanitation, and almost no access to healthcare and other public services, those living in this prison, without walls, live under the constant threat from the environment and government.Any outcry for help can be met with violence and threats to security. Those living in the slums of Nairobi, have no choice but to stay trapped in their poverty, pushed away from the rest of society.
Being the weakest, the children are most at risk. This unsafe, disease-ridden environment, already overwhelmed with HIV/AIDS, becomes even more discouraging due to other severe health conditions. But the danger to the children isn’t just health related. With one of the highest interpersonal crime rates known, children are in extreme danger of abduction and sex related crimes. Around any corner could be waiting an offender ready to grab a child. It is scary and a very alarming situation, especially where no help from local authorities exists.Standing on a ridge and looking into the massive network of slums surrounding Nairobi, it would be extremely difficult to pinpoint a location needing more help than another. The Lord has led Please Pass the Bread to work along side ministries where learning is a priority. Day care schools, education centers, orphanages, and prison facilities teaching the Word of God is where our support is focused.

How We Help
Through feeding centers, clean water provision, construction and greenhouse projects to subsidize additional food, we are supporting efforts where the poorest children can receive a sound education, real hope for their future, and where the Word of God is effectively being taught.
The Lord is working mighty miracles in Nairobi on behalf of these children. The commitment from our ministry partners stands right in line with our vision to support those who have a firm foundation in faith and are grounded with integrity through the leading of the Lord.
The reports coming out of Kenya read as true testimonies of life change, and hope in the future, for the children and their families. In our heart we fully honor the faithful workers we support in Kenya.
