Democratic Republic of the Congo
Overview
Please Pass the Bread operates in the slums surrounding the city of Kinsasha. Probably considered one of the poorest areas inside the world’s poorest nation (ranked #1 in 2010 as the poorest country by the Global Finance). The severity in poverty the Congo faces has pushed a large percentage of single mothers and children to living on the streets. The children roam without hope, scared, and in constant danger from unthinkable disgraces against humanity.
We support ministry efforts reaching out to these street children and families, protecting them from the inhumane environment and caring for their needs.
We pray the Lord’s wisdom and guidance concerning this delicate situation we face in the Congo. As the Lord leads we will continue an effort to reinforce provisions where needed and reach out further where are ability to support allows.

How We Help
Citadelle de l’espoir (or the Citadel of Hope) is the charity institution we support. It was started to help the children and single mothers who are enduring the misery of life on the streets of Kinshasa. It was started to give them hope for the future and show them someone cares – to show them the love of Jesus.
In addition, 3 primary schools for the children were started in a poor district of Kinshasa. Two sewing centers, one in Mbuji-Mayi and another in Kinshasa were opened for single mothers to acquire a vocational skill.
We are teaching about “The Bread of Life” because, as their lives depict, belief in the real Saviour can become difficult as these children, almost, begin their life forced into a lifestyle of ritualistic work, labor, and false religion.
Please Pass the Bread is working alongside the ministry of Citadelle de l’espoir in caring for the children and the single mothers. Through the tender heart of a committed Pastor and his team, the mercy of God is handed to those who would otherwise find themselves ravaged by their disparaged environment.
