A Helper In The Time Of Need

Posted on May 11, 2013 . 1 Comment

(For concerns of safety some specific details have been left out)

Driving into the Sierra Madre Mountains, military checkpoints manned by the Philippine Army attest to the region’s uncertainty. Our drive through the 2 barriers this day was met with a relaxed stance, which meant nothing alarming was defined for the day. Rebel [...]

The story of a pastor who accepted the cost of following Jesus

Pastor Fred stood frozen with a gun pointed at his head. He could feel the cold metal barrel against his forehead. On the other side of the barrel stood his brother-in-law with his finger on the trigger. He was an angry man who [...]

We recently asked for your prayers for a young girl in one of our programs who was given the ultimatum to deny her faith in Jesus. Here are the new details. The original request for prayer was posted on our FaceBook page. (Name & location withheld for safety).

Taken away to another region because she could [...]

The Story Of Kevincito

Posted on March 20, 2013 . 3 Comments
In July 2006, an elderly man came to Love & Hope Children’s Home looking for a home for his three-year-old grandson that had severe disabilities. The boy was also extremely underweight for his age. We thought that with a good diet and a lot of love, Kevincito's health would improve quickly, as it had with other children who had arrived at Love & Hope in a state of malnutrition.

A Meeting with Mercy

Posted on February 15, 2013 . Add Comment
I was approaching Benjo’s School by foot through the narrow alleyways of the Mathare 4A slum in Nairobi, Kenya. Walking alongside were Pastor Viterlis Opicha, overseer of Benjo’s School, a man seemingly clothed in a perpetual smile, and a few dozen elementary school children, mostly dressed in burgundy school uniforms.

Throughout the slums of Nairobi Kenya, Please Pass the Bread supports feeding programs established inside schools where children in dire conditions of poverty receive the opportunity of a primary education. These centers are uniquely situated in the heart of communities struggling to survive one day at a time. Operated by pastors and people [...]

Jakarta Street Kids Ministry

Posted on February 6, 2013 . Add Comment
Almost three years ago Pastor Grace Chan and Ibu (Mrs.) Nana Wiradi began a ministry to the poorest street children of Jakarta, Indonesia. In the early days the children did not always want to come on their own accord. Workers occasionally had to carry the children to the empty plot across the street from the Cempaka Mas Mall, where Sunday school services were held.

Crying Out For God’s Touch

Posted on January 16, 2013 . Add Comment
First, we are so grateful to Jesus that the Botogevsky family is part of the Please Pass the Bread program here in Latvia – food is provided and some basic needs are being met. When they came to us their life had hit the bottom and all hope had vanished. All resilience was broken and the possibility of merely surviving was quickly fading.

In the End You Can Only Count On Jesus

Posted on January 12, 2013 . 2 Comments
About ten minutes into serving the meal I looked at pastor who motioned the same thought that was running through my head. Pastor shrugged his shoulders and said, “So many children coming, and so hungry”. We were both in disbelief at the large number of children showing up to eat.
