Cebu Philippines – Please Pass the Bread has added a new location. The areas we will operate are still under evaluation as we determine the number of children in need of our support. Please Pass the Bread will be coming along side the ministry established by YWAM.
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Kid’s Club
Over a decade ago in a slum community named Malayan, a squatter area along the seashore, YWAM of Cebu brought the message of Christ by performing skits and having a time of prayer for many children in this slum neighborhood. As this ministry to children continued the Lord began to bless the effort and change the hearts of the children. The behavior of the children started to turn more positive and the children began to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
During this time a small building was donated by a local. Shortly after, the YWAM team found themselves with 120 kids on fire for Jesus as they came weekly to play games, learn about Jesus, hear Bible stories and sing praise songs. This was the simple and humble beginning of the Kids Club.
Today, YWAM has established Kid’s Club ministries in 7 slum communities throughout Cebu. Over 700 children are nurtured by the love of Jesus through teaching, song, and provision every week.
YWAM Cebu is currently ministering to the street children and orphans in the following slum villages:
- Aromahan (Dumlog and Rama) in Talisay
- Cogon, Pardo (Cebu City)
- Garden Street in Carmen Village
- Sixth Street Kids in Carmen Village
- Malayan (Fishing Village) in Talisay
- Mananga (Under the Bridge) in Talisay
- Sambag in Talisay
The Kids Club not only offers hope to children, but also to the parents of the children. Filling the need to bring Christ into the home atmosphere of the families, a woman’s bible study and a family ministry has been birthed out of the Kids Club ministry effort.
Testimonies of change have been ongoing to include many couples who had been living together for many years, unmarried, celebrating as they dedicate their lives together through beautiful wedding ceremonies after giving their lives to Jesus.
