Praise Report from Riga, Latvia
Describing the situation can be simplified by stating the fact that Ivars and Inese, a young couple in their early twenties, live a life deep in poverty, entrenched in a community with so many suffering the same circumstances. There is no end in sight as the Latvian government is failing.
As part of our program to feed hungry families in Latvia, this young couple and their 4 children: twins Laura and Linda, little Christa, and tiny Katrina are enrolled in the Please Pass the Bread program.
At a recent PPtB meal, hearts have been warmed, and lives forever changed, as this precious family took a step forward and accepted Jesus as Saviour and asked Him to be Lord of their life.
As is the way of the Lord, through the diminished life they are leading, we are confident the Lord will reveal a greater purpose for this family in which the peace of God will reside.
At the present, this family of 6 survives only on an average income of $330 monthly, enough to only cover part of the rent of their tiny apartment. The money comes from government assistance, as there really are no jobs available. Food, clothing, essentials, and items for the baby have to come from other means, and resources are thin in Riga. Most of the time they do without.
In recent days we believe the Lord has already begun His work on their behalf. Ivars has been offered a chance to be educated in driving a large truck, which will bring a higher wage and steady income for his family.
Prayer Request
For now, they are asking for prayer that their essential needs are covered and that the Lord opens the door wide to an opportunity for Ivars to have a good paying steady job to support his family. Also, that as they grow in the Lord they grow strong spiritually and as good ambassadors of Christ.
Both parents have a strong desire to take care of their girls and give them a bright future to look forward to. They will give their all to help this happen if given the opportunity to do so.
