Many years ago (40 to be exact) I was lying in a hospital having major back surgery and a cousin brought me your book “The cross and the switchblade”. Your heart towards to the poor and broken never changed and speaks more profoundly to me than anything else. Thank you for your testimony of faithfulness to the end.

Words cannot express the gratitute i feel towards God for bringing such a man as Pastor David to our generation. TO my regret i never had the pleasure to meet him. But after all the years of reading and listening to his sermons i feel as though i do know him.Often, after listening to one of his sermons or reading one of his devotionals, i would ask the LOrd to raise up other men and women of like heart as his. I could see him getting tired and felt that it wouldn’t be long before the LORd would take him home. Not many pastors today have Pastor David’s pasion for the people of God. Nor do they have the courage to stand up to the mediocracy of today’s church and address the issues that are hindering the move of GOd. Not caring what people’s opinions about him may be, he preached the word without appology. Praise God! I still listen to his sermons and read his devotionals daily.it encourages me to be more vigilant in my spiritual life and not let myself be seduced by the mediocracy that has infiltrated into the church. May the LORd richly Bless to the TIme Square Church and his wife Gwen and family.

I thank God that I have been able to get the opportunity to say how much I have enjoyed the Pullpitt series over many years, and now recieve also the daily devotionals, My heart Is grieved that David has gone and I thank God for his life, I mourne his loss but I think of those he has left behind but I am sure that our great God and saviour will continue the work that David started,”..as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee:I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of good courage: ( Josh 1:5 -6, KJV. ) May the God of all comfort, comfort you now, may you know his loving arms around you, bringing you courage and strength at this time.We serve the faithful, true and living God! There Is no other! Hallaluyah! God Bless.x

David’s devotionals and wisdom will be sorely missed by those who have grown to love and respect him over the years. Thank you Father for David and every life he has touched for you. I was blessed to have his tapes passed to me as an infant Christian 27 years ago. I would drop to my knees listening to them. He has continued to be a mentor to me and to challenge me. I was stunned when I heard he’d passed away, I felt a great light had gone out in this world, but yet now I feel his rejoicing with Christ is so great, its all I can think of. His death has challenged me even more to strive to be more like Christ. My prayers are with his family and church family, and I feel incredibly blessed to have walked with him these 27 years. How gracious God is to have used him when I live in Australia. I made my way to his New York church, and saw him when he came here, because I knew God was there. Thanks to his faithfulness to God not to compromise, he has blessed many lives. Ann

I discovered your dads site by chance sometime in September 2011 when i last my twins and my way! I had prayed to God for a spiritual advisor but couldnt find one, and through the Grace of God, your father David, became that to me!
His scriptures, his understanding, his wisdom and his support were always just the right amount at the right time!
When i didnt get my daily reading from him on Friday, i was wondering what was wrong and then that dreadfully painful message came through from Gary:( i just wept.
I love God but i am human and require human interaction and your father gave me that. He understood the temptations of the spirit, the taunts of the devil, the weeping, the pain of suffering and loss, things i was dealing with, through his love for God i found my way back to loving God!
May his soul through the mercy of God rest in peace!

Awesome tribute to a man who will be greatly missed. I know the outreach will continue through multiplied harvested souls who have been reached through the many ministries born of God, through the heart of David Wilkerson. Our hearts join yours in the grief of loss, together with the joy of victory to a man now at home with our Lord.

  • Rev. Dr. Claudette Alvarez-Dalmau

Shalom & Blessings … From my earliest years in the Lord and in college, I saw, read and share the powerful and compelling testimony of Pastor David Wilkerson. It is to this day 35 years after my conversion that still could be of support and encouragement to my life in ministry, every word, even from a distance, in his Daily Devotional. Greatly appreciate their loyalty, perseverance and determination in the Lord of Heaven, Yahweh … On the merits of Yeshua Ha’Mashiaj … In Him,

This wonderful man of God will be greatly missed. A giant called home. I loved reading his devotionals that I received every day. Every time I read one it was exactly what I needed to hear for that time.

We were greatly saddened by the loss of this great man of God who has steadfastly encouraged us through many many years (over 30). What a blessing it has been to have listened and read Brother Dave through the years and his faithfulness to our Lord. I weep with the Wilkerson family and the church there at Times Square, but rejoice that he is in Heaven and his work here on earth is done. I know that he heard “well done, my good and faithful servant – enter into the joys of the Lord” on that day last week. Sister Gwen, look up, from Heaven your help comes.

I’m really sorry to hear the death of pastor David, his sermon and letters deeply encouraged my life as a Christian. His life of faith and unreserve commitment to the Lord is what every christian should be after for.

Of the men I admire most within the circle of the Evangelical Church throughout the world, David Wilkerson ranks with Len Ravenhill, Tozer, Keith Green, and Dr.Adrian Rogers [all now gone to their glory & rewards in eternity and Christ's Kingdom in Heaven]

Tho we never met, I loved him like an elder father in the Faith.

May his family and close friends be blest & comforted by the Holy Spirit until Jesus returns for His Bride. … which we are all hoping is very soon.

I have never met David Wilkerson yet he has impacted my life so deeply I feel like he cherished family. Many times I have listened to his sermons online and his words comforted and exhorted me. The Lord has used his depth of love for the Lord, his compassion for the weak, lost and broken hearted to heal my heart… to lead me in the way I should go… to deepen my own relationship with the Lord. I have listened to all his online sermons… and subscribed to his weekly emails which have always been exactly the word of God I have needed. I also now listen to his son Garry who has also spoken deeply to my spirit.
David… and David’s family… although we have never met, I love you! I will continue to pray for David’s beautiful wife and his children and grandchildren. I will miss him more than he will every know. I thank the Lord for his life, his devotion, his obedience, his humility and honesty and for the Word of God that poured from him with such power. David I can just see Jesus holding out his arms to welcome you and to embrace you and with the words I know you have longed to hear… “Well done my good and faithful servant”

  • William Baldree

I have enjoyed and have been blessed through his ministry of emailed devotions and have passed them along to others in need. The flesh will miss Bro. David but the spirit rejoices because it knows where he is. And that is my desire and my headed destination, to reach heaven. We love you all and will be praying for the Wilkerson family in this difficult time.
You got more to go to heaven for than you had the other day!

  • Elder Bobby Jean Moore

What a great loss to the Body of Christ and unbelievers alike. Brother Dave was like the ‘right arm’ of the body. I’ve been getting his messages since i got saved in 1983 and couldn’t wait to receive them so i could read them and know i’d be blessed. I will miss him tremendously.. What a great loss…It blows my mind how Great God Is.. how He could’ve used one little country preacher and touch thousands and save thousands of lives. What a great loss..

David was a true servant of God – I first meet him thru his book “The Cross & the Switchblade” and with the advent of the internet I found him again in his devotional series.
His timely messages were God inspired and in reading them I was ushered into the very presence of our Father and there I found strength, comfort and a sense of Gods presence. Yes I will miss his word but I know that he is with Jesus and his family is under the shelter of our Fathers wing.

  • Gail Changoor

My heart is sad but I know God has everything under control. Brother Dave always said live or die I am the Lords. I know his legacy will live on and feeding the poorest of the poor will continue. God has everything under control. May God continue to bless his family always. Love to all who are hurting. God is in control. Please pass the bread will flourish and people will see its really what Jesus had intended all along ” Feed my people”, Spiritually and Physically. God richly bless you.

I’m happy to have known this great man of God. I subscribed to David Wilkerson Today and shared his message with many on Facebook and other social networks, as well as to others on a massive email list. I’m happy to have been a part of his ministry by passing on his wonderful words of encouragement and inspiration. I thank God for his faithful heart and obedience spirit that was filled with so much love and compassion. He’s impacted my life greatly and caused me to be a much better servant of God. I imagine there’s a wonderful celebration going on in Heaven, upon receiving this precious Soul into Glory.

Yes, we will miss him here on earth; but listen to this Blessed hope from the Word of God! “I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words”. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18

    Respectfully Submitted,

I have no doubt that David Wilkerson was a man called by God who committed his life to that call. He has greatly touched my life, the life of my daughter, and the lives of those with whom we share his daily devotions. I was stunned to learn of his death but take comfort in knowing he has made it home. He will be greatly missed.

  • Marta Badillo

I thank God for David Wilkerson’s ministry. He has spoken and written the words of God for the broken and hurting world in which I was one. I am so grateful to David for the daily devotions which provide me with a clear word from Our Savior. Our brother David has joined many who have left us and now is in the presence of Jesus. God bless you all. Love, Marta

  • Linda Charles

I am so humbled by the tribute to David Wilkerson – through the love and power of Jesus Christ one man can do so much to change the lives of others and make their lives livable.
The look on those childrens faces, it is also encouraging that even in the latter years you can do stuff. David Wilkerson proved that a man can continue to do many things for Christ even if he or she have a few miles on the clock.

  • Patti Ballone

We have lost a great man of God, but maybe God felt that his words he left behind is the final wake up call for America, if they will only listen. There are no words EVER we can say to express the loss the world has with Brother Wilkerson passing. Such a void we have in our hearts. His messages have and will always run paralell with what troubles daily life gives us and the answers that David receives from God to fix them, it has been amazing. I have many messages left on my email, just to keep rereading them or wait till just the right time in need to open them, and wa-la, theres my answer. What a loss for us, but Heaven is rejoicing. Now in Gods arms as where he should be for the so much needed rest he deserves.

  • Rosemarie Boyd

Father, God, thank you for David Wilkerson’s ministry. He is now in your loving arms forever. Someday I will meet him to thank him. I love you Lord and thank you for saving me from my sins. Through Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.

I have followed David’s newsletters for years & then when technology grew, his daily devotionals via email. I shared his newsletters with many. He has always been my favorite minister. A few of the sermons in our church has came from his newsletters as well as his on-line messages. On my favorite website, I’m always posting his devotionals. My desire has always been to come to New York, hear Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir & hear David preach at Times Square. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to make it but am blessed to know that one day I’ll see him. I want to thank his family for your sacrifices as well. To his wife for being submissive & always being by his side. I’ve always said behind every good man is a better woman. To his children for those times you’ve had to sacrifice your daddy so he could take the gospel to the lost world. To my God for giving us such an awesome man of God that never NEVER compromised. I mourn your loss as well as glory in your victory. You have been in my prayers.

I thank God for the life of David Wilkerson. I received his daily messages for more than a year and it meant a lot to me. His life story is an inspiration to serve God more diligently. Sincere condolences to his family, from a friend in South Africa.

  • Jack Walter

I just want the family of David Wilkerson to know that he had a big influence on my life. When I was in my very early twenties, I read about his going into New YOrk City to work with the gangs. It inspired me as a young man to greater goals to take the gospel to the young people in my area. I having been doing that since 1965 to this day as I mentor young men in ministry. Thanks you David for all your work to inspire me and countless others.

We keep Gwen in prayer. We realise through Brother Dave’s walk that it is possible to live the Christlike life on earth and be an inspiration to live holy. He has helped me through his talks on many occasions and I have a deep respect and weep for your loss. It really is a hard thing to take in. I pray for Gwen to be a light and have the peace that is not explainable other than through an act of God. God bless and stay strong.

Beloved, truly this was what we needed to see. An ordinary man, who was willing to be used by God, so God could do Extraordinary things in this world today! Just like David of old, he had a heart for Jesus and sought God’s will over his own. “Come Holy Spirit, come.” Pastor Dave truly knew where God’s power came from and manifested itself here on Earth. Thanks to him for being such a faithful servant and being a part for changing so many lives. His last calling was help the Poorest of the Poor. Let us now carry that light of Jesus throughout the world that brother Dave so humbly did for almost 80 years. Shalom!

  • Linda D’Antonio

So said about His death. His life touched so many people at our church including our pastor. Teen challenge and his book the cross and switch blade touched so many lives.
I remember being in a recovery house to visit my daughter and our pastor brought her that book and in the morning the counselors went through her room and took the book because they thought it wasnt a good book to read while in recovery.
    Sad thought.

Thank God for the great impact the ministry of David Wilkerson had in my life. His book I have used in many different languages while working in red light district in Amsterdam and another city amongst many eastern european women. And they love the book. it gave opportunities to pray with them and showed them a way out while the spirit of God worked in their hearts. I wish His wife soon recovery and the children and grand children comfort and love.

God spoke to me continually thru his writings. He was a true watchman. Help me understand why God allowed this holy man to die in such a violent way. I can understand God taking him but like that?

      ON DAVID WILKERSON’S SUDDEN HOME-CALL

      Zac Poonen

Many believers have a question (sometimes unasked) as to how God could allow a faithful servant of His, like David Wilkerson, to leave this world through a car crash.

      My answer is:
We do NOT know all the facts concerning the accident and so we must not judge by what our ears have heard or by what our eyes have read. Jesus Himself never did that (Isaiah 11:3).

We DO know however that David Wilkerson was a genuine man of God. He was certainly the one I respected the most in the USA. We also know that “the death of godly men is precious in the sight of the Lord” (Psa.116:15).

In David Wilkerson’s last blog (on the very day of the accident) he had written: “In that darkness you will hear the Father whisper, ‘I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.’”
Those words seem to be prophetic. I believe God embraced David Wilkerson in his hour of pain – and that (as he wrote there) this was “no accident” in God’s eyes.

Godly people will always seek to put the best construction on events that they do not have full details about. And even when we think we have all the details about an event, we still may not know ALL the facts. We must all be humble enough to acknowledge that. So it is best to leave such matters with God. “The secret things belong to the LORD our God. Only the things that are revealed belong to us” (Deut.29:29).

We should all kill our curiosity about matters that are hidden and unknown.

David Wilkerson was a great evangelist and a prophet – a unique combination of gifts that is almost never seen in the church. He was a new-covenant prophet and not an old-covenant prophet. Many believers do not understand the difference between old covenant prophets and new covenant prophets. Old-covenant prophets were tested by whether EVERY ONE of their prophecies were fulfilled EXACTLY AS SPOKEN (Deut.18:22). New-covenant prophets however are given by the Lord to the church to equip the saints to build the Body of Christ. This is stated very clearly in Ephesians 4:11,12. So new-covenant prophets prophesy primarily to challenge people to repentance – exposing un-Christlike attitudes in their hearts (as we read in 1 Cor.14:24,25). If however such new-covenant prophets speak occasionally about future events, according to their understanding and discernment of certain situations, they may be mistaken, since we all “see through a glass darkly” (1 Cor.13:12). But that does not take away from the fact that they are still new-covenant prophets.

We should all thank God for the example of such a man as David Wilkerson – who lived a godly life until the very end, had such a uniquely anointed ministry, and who stood for the truth uncompromisingly until the very end of his life. Let us consider his example and follow him as he followed Christ (1 Cor.11:1).

“Remember your former leaders, who spoke God’s message to you. Think back on how they lived and died, and imitate their faith.” (Hebrews 13:7 – Today’s English Version)

It is true that secret things belong to God. It is quite natural to feel, for the way
Dave was called home. Accidents are untimely
        deaths.

No doubt, Dave was a man of a Great God. His sermons blessed me numerous times.

Thank you Sharon. I just saw your response to my desire to understand better why DW died the way he did. I trust GOD completely with DW’s death by car accident. We’ll understand it better in the sweet by and by.

I came from a background of biker gangs, drugs & alcohol-I had a child out of wedlock at the age of 37 in January of 1987 & got saved shortly after-within 2 days someone gave me David’s book called “Man, Have You Got Problems” That book helped me tremendously as a new Christian. Because of that book I became a follower of David’s teachings-he has been a powerful influence & mentor in my life–he truly was a man of God & will be missed

I attended Time Square Church several years ago. And the moment I walked in I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. I knew it was a GOD fearing place and that the people there loved the Lord and were real. Pastor Wilkerson’s preaching and story has stired my heart. I come from a family of drug addiction and alcholism. I prayed for GOD to lead me to a church where all of GODs people worshiped, not one race, but all, and He lead me to TIME SQUARE CHURCH! It renewed my hope and faith. Pastor Wilkerson was an incredible person that will be missed, and one that I will always respect and admire–for the love and compassion he showed for the broken. When I heard of the news of his passing, I shed tears and mourned…

I am from India. Almost everyday I received Pastor David Walkerson’sermon from the Word of God. I never seen him but I love to read his anointed and fresh sermons. I called him: ‘The modern hero of faith and faithful servant’. It is very shocked to me about his death. I am not going to receive his very challenging massages on this earth so I cried. On the other hand, I am rejoice because he went with Jesus Christ whom he served faithfully. “And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead,” Hebrews 11:4b

  • Jeanie Bookout

My heart sank when I read the news about David. This earth lost a great man of God but I know that he is rejoicing with our Lord!!!
I first discovered David’s blog a few years ago and have been ministered to daily by his devotions. He is an inspiration to all of us and I pray that we will use his energy to continue his work to reach the lost for Christ.

as i have pondered our dear brother’s life, i thought how through him, i was taught how to become an overcomer – someone gave me one of his sermons and i latched on to his teachings and saved a whole binder of them. many people borrowed that binder and read the messages.

i ran on to a young man who had been at his ministry in pennsylvania for drug abuse – i heard the testimony – ken had lost his driver’s license and would not be able to drive for 10 years – when ken came out of teen challenge, he was on fire for Yahushua – here he was ready to begin a career and he could not drive in rural new jersey. by some quirk, trenton, the state capitol, lost his records and ken was able to begin driving – he knew that he was being cared for by Our Heavenly Father. ken later died of cancer – yet a very young man.

the day came when david’s message no longer fed me – they became words on a page as Our Father wanted me to go another direction – not that dw was off – just a different path than i was to follow. only the Word would do the trick – not man’s teaching – i had to be taught by a Higher Teacher. i had supported dw’s ministry but that had to stop as well. he came to a local retreat center and i could not even go to hear our dear brother.

in the later years, i subscribed for his daily devotion and forwarded it on to others as he taught Yahusha’s promises for an overcomer’s life.

i KNOW where he is today – he paid the price as a soldier for the battle that lies ahead. he is cheering us on as he did in the natural here on earth.

each of us has a unique walk and the time comes when we cannot teach another – fw

I was saved in 1980 at the age of 30. In 1982 I was introduced to Bro. Wilkerson’s ministry through a sermon on a cassette tape. I was blessed to attend a three day ministry session in Dallas, TX. “Call to Repentance” gathering. I have been receiving World Challenge tape & “Pulpit Series”messages since the 1980′s. I have always considered Bro. David as a Pastor who discipled me and my wife and sons. His messages were always “on target” and challenged us to follow Christ and trust Him no matter what challenged or trials came our way. His messages sustained us and inspired us to stay in God’s Word and hide it in our hearts. His words will not fall but will continue to be fruitful in all who have known him as those who are yet to hear his preaching. May the peace of God reign in your hearts knowing you have a Godly heritage to continue.

After viewing this tribute, how could any believer not feel the compulsion, the leading, to do more for God. And the same answer that God gave Bro Dave, He gives us, “..all I’m looking for is a willing heart, yielded to Me.” I love Bro Dave as a spiritual father after receiving his newsletters for many years; I know my life has been changed by his ministry, and I pray many lives are continued to be changed by his legacy of unshakable faith. Touch Sister Gwen, Lord.

I Free from Drugs today Because of Christ putting a passion into this mans heart 50 some years ago, and out of his obedience, i was able to go to a program call Teen Challenge. The legacy that Brother David left behind is a reminder to me to go in faith and obedience because not only im goingf to be bless but 100000000 might be save, who knows?? i’m sure Brother David din’t.

Teen Challenge was a large part of my Christian life when I was born again during the Jesus Movement. I went, and took many people to the Friday night services at Rehrersburg when Frank Reynolds was preaching. David Wilkerson’s name was new in the Christian world at that time. His passion for evengelism continued the fire in me to win people to Christ. I pastored for 28 years and now do drug and alcohol counseling and still support TC Western PA. None of this would have happened if David had not walked by faith and obeen obedienet to God many years ago. There is no counting how many lives have been effected directly or indirectly by his life.

    Gratitude,
    Randy Shanley

Pastor Dave Wilkerson poured out the speaking of God from himself into others as a selfless man! In doing that he touched the heart of a20 yr old country boy named Rick Hagans! Pastor Rick as he is known today formed a love for Pastor Dave that he soon set into motion not only in his own life but as well in a ministry of his own heart!
This started a 30 yr ministry called His Place which has blossomed into so much more for the Kingdom! The calling that Pastor Dave had was passed on and now some 30 yrs later it has given me a chance at life changes! Now clean 5 yrs from a 23 yr method addiction!
A great tribute is just knowing Pastor Dave and even greater is being a product of his love for Christ!

I was brokenhearted to hear of this tragedy.
The LORD called for Dr. David. Praise the LORD. Help us to always be ready. Amen.
Dr. David’s messages everyday were a vision
from his Lord, taken strictly from the Bible.
I am so thankful to have had his readings everyday. I looked so forward to that every morning.
I am praying for his Wife, his children and grandchildren.
May GOD so richly bless and comfort them.

    In HIS precious name,
    Sincerely,
    Judy Hutson

I wish I have known this mighty man of God…..it was only recently I stumbled upon his web site and started receive the daily devotion. His heart truly ached travailed in prayer for the things of God. What a loss for us…what a loss…grieving in my heart, what a loss…Lord, send another like him…

For years I’ve been blessed by the faithful, insightful, heartfelt sharings of David Wilkerson in his newsletter. And, often, the devotion scriptures placed in his pocket calendar start me into my morning time in the WORD. An even greater message has been His example of laying down his life to care for the hurting and helpless. David Wilkerson has been my kind of hero – showing faith, courage, love and truth in all these ways. Now, his joy is full. His legacy will carry on in the world through our changed lives.

    To the Wilkerson Family:
Thank you for sharing your husband and father with the world. His compassion has touched my life with the Love of GOD. The Fire in his heart will not go out, it will continue to spread around the world. May GOD be with you always and forever.

  • Jessica Burch

Mrs. Wilkerson and family you are in my prayers. I thank my Lord Jesus for Mr.Wilkerson’s testimony because it has reminded and encouraged me to continue to walk with Jesus and serve Him, that being the most important thing.

  • Angie

The only way to explain the great loss that I personally feel in David Wilkerson’s passing is that from the beginning, when I first heard about him and heard him preach, something bonded me with his heart. We were of the same Spirit. The cry of my heart resembled his, only mine in it’s infancy in comparison to his. On many occassions, even before I read his daily devotional, the Lord had already spoken that to my heart and He, the Lord, used Pastor David’s words to confirm His. I pray for his family and as for Pastor Conlon, I don’t know how long he was under the wing of Pastor David Wilkerson, but many times when I would hear him preach, I had a hard time distinguishing him from Pastor David. He has the same cry in his heart and the resemblance in their voices always made me think that there was an error on the name’s listing on the message. It is the same spirit that you hear in Carter Conlon. It is the same passion for the Lord. If he was mentored under David Wilkerson, it is no wonder that the protege looks like the mentor. I have always felt that I could hear David Wilkerson in the preaching of Carter Conlon. That is in no way meant to diminish the individuality of Carter Conlon, but is to highly compliment him. I will always hear Pastor David Wilkerson in the preaching by him. He leaves behind a great legacy and much fruit because he scattered his heart with the love of Jesus all over the world. May the Lord’s comfort and peace supernaturally bring all his family through this great loss and may He comfort all of us, his spiritual family in the world who were fed by this Shepherd. He will be greatly missed.

  • Debora Wager

A tribute not only to an amazing man of God, but to the Holy Spirit Himself…and what can be accomplished when one man seeks the Lord with all his heart, and obeys His voice. Brother Dave’s faith has influenced my walk with Jesus for over 30 years. I am so thankful the Lord could use his heart to convey His own heart to the lost and hurting. He is an inspiration and example of the value of one obedient heart to the will of God. My life is one that was radically changed because of Brother Dave’s obedience.

  • http://worldchallenge.org Teresa Hart

My husband and I read David’s devotionals every day and God speaks directly to our hearts in each and every one. We have grieved over the loss of Pastor David as if he is one of our own family members. Our loss is God’s gain because now he is in the loving arms of Jesus and heaven is an even better place because of his presence. We will continue to lift up Gwen and his family for God’s peace and healing. Our deepest sympathy and love.

  • Darla

It would take too long to write all the things I’d like to say about Pastor David Wilkerson. However, I will say this: He has been a tremendous blessing to me! I feel like my own family member has passed away. Although he’ll be missed, he is with the Lord! This man of God was a true example of “living” the gospel, as well as teaching & preaching it.

  • Sandra DeTorres

I thank the Lord for His Goodness toward us in bringing
Pastor Dave into our lives. Although our hearts have
been broken through this loss, we know that he would
want us to run to Jesus for comfort, to seek Him with
all of our hearts at this time. The Lord has truly
blessed us through one life that was obedient to the
voice of the Lord. Thank you, Pastor Dave.

Not long after my wife and I came to know Jesus in the ’70′s, we were introduced to Pastor David through the Cross and the Switchblede – we were in crisis at the time and were looking for answers….David’s love for Jesus, his practical faith, obedience, courage and the fruit of it gripped me then, and has ever since. We have been on the mail and email lists all these years, and there has never been an occasion where David’s love and passion for the Lord has not encouraged and challenged us – thank you David for living a life so overflowing with Jesus that all could see, and thank you Gwen for all you have given to allow David to share his life with the world – our prayers are with you and the family.

No other man has had the impact that David Wilkerson has had on my life. He was certainly a pastor’s pastor, and a pastor to many who listened to his sermons via World Challenge. I was at TSCNYC on April 4th, 2010. As far as I can see, that was the last (if not one of the lasty) sermons he preached at his church in NYC. God blessed me by allowing me to be there. Like Carter Conlon has said, I, too, imagine him dancing in fron of God’s throne. Thank you Lord, for lending David Wilkerson to the modern world.

  • Deborah Gates

How many times I have arrived home drained, and your message was direct to my heart from the Lord. HE was glorified by your ministry and I thank you for your faithfulness.

  • Debbie

Pastor David was an amazing individual!! To hear the emotion in his voice would make me cry. I often said to myself “this really is a man of GOD” while listening to one of his sermons. We all know he’s seated at the Fathers feet, at this very moment, and how wonderful it will be to be able to hear his voice, again one day.
GODs arms are wrapped around his family, comforting & reassuring them, telling them “David is with me”……
Pastor, I pray that I develope the kind of realtionship with our Lord that you had. Your gift was special.

I want to thank God for giving us David Wilkerson. I was a very confused young man living in New York.Born of Jewish parents I didn’t know anything about Jesus. Someone told me about Times Square Church. I went there one day. The Holy Spirit touched me that day. I will never forget how loving David Wilkerson was to me and my son.David Wilkerson led me to a saving knowledge of Jesus.I thank God for that.

  • Martha Henson

Br. Wilkerson had a foundational place in my life from 30 yrs. ago.I have always considered him one of my mentors. I had boxes of his preaching tapes that I would listen to over and over. He was/is a great man of faith, hope and love of his Savior Jesus. Br. Dave will live on in his ministries that God started through him. He will be greatly missed but truly continue to have a powerful impact on this generation. May God bring peace to his family as He holds His son in the palm of His hand.

    • Mandy Koziol

Pastor David Wilkerson, was a man od GOD a friend of GOD who held not onto the hands of this world but to the hand of JESUS. I have been so blessed by the truth from GOD’s word that pastor David shared in his sermons. Pastor David also has warned us the Church to be prepared for what GOD is going to send to America in the coming months. I hope all who heard his word given by the HOLY SPIRIT will be remembered and heeded. Thank you loving Heavenly Father for the time you allowed your friend and servant to remain with us.

  • Riaan van Wyk

David Wilkerson is a modern example of how we must run the race. He ran his race with a passion and became an example for many (also in South Africa). I have never met him personally, but his example through his choice of life, wil forever be guidance and inspiration for me. God blessed us with David Wilkerson. No we also must take up the responsibilities so that all may know that Jesus Christ is Lord!

As a young girl I was privileged to see in theatre “The Cross and the Switchblade” after having read the book innumerable times. This greatly influenced me to fully dedicate my life to God and have served in missions outside the USA for over 30 years.
David’s daily devotionals have been a source of strength for me, ministering to my soul and spirit in a dry and thirsy land. His influence continues until Jesus comes. I am praying for the Wilkerson family, Gwen and their children and grandchildren that God’s hand of comfort would surround them as they continue this ministry into the next generation.

From the time I was a very young child I have known and loved Bro Wilkersons’s ministry.. I attended many crusades over the years, and never knew another minister that I had more confidence in. As I watched other ministers fall, even in my own family, I saw Bro Wilkerson stay true to God and his calling. He has ministered to me on so many levels, thru his preaching, his books his news letters, and his daily blogs that always seemed to be right on target for what was going on in my life.. Words cannot describe how heavy my heart is at losing such a might man of God, that had such an empact on my life. I’m grieving, but at the same time rejoicing that he his with our Lord after serving Him for so many years.. My prayer are with his family daily, because I know what a tremendous loss this is for them.. God bless, and bring peace to all who knew and loved David Wilkerson

A great man of God has left this earth to be in the presence of God. What a legacy he left, what a contribution to this world and to a mass of people he made, what comfort he gave to others. I always found solice and comfort attending services at Times Square Church. A great loss for us all, but in God’s presence he is in good standing. We will all be better for him being a part of our life. We will greatly miss him. What he did for Christ with his life will serve as an example for all of us. He left us all an example to follow. Thank you Pastor Wilkerson.

Each day began with David’s message. He brought me closer to God’s word, his encouraging theme of Godly living inspired me to spread the gospel to others. I felt a huge loss when God called David home, but realized his son Gary would carry on his work. This world was a far better place with the likes’ of David Wilkerson. We have been blessed with his devolution to our heavenly Father. God bless his wife and keep her strong in Christ. Dear Heavenly Father bless David’s family and his internet family to.
We shall see you one day my friend,

I love you Pastor Dave Wilkerson I already missed you so much. With deepest love Virginia Jovel

Bro. Dave was a man after God’s own heart and he found it; The rest of his life was helping us to find it. Thanks Bro. Dave!
Having met him in Stephenville,TX Lindale, TX and New York City, NY, What you saw, heard. and felt was what you got. Highest Integrity, Man of Truth,Man of Love and Faith,Man of Honor Devoted and Passionate to one and to all. A Hero of the Faith etched in Hebrews 11 and seen by us all. Experiencing a Great Loss of a voice of God! Passionately He lived and Passionately he was transformed! God knew Bro. Dave; Bro. Dave knew God.

  • James Downham

From the first encounter of Brother Dave and his program (along with Nicky Cruz)at Penn State Campus in 1967, it became evident that the Lord had laid His hands upon him and sealed him to a great work for Him. The world will sorely miss this man of God, but I’m sure He already has prepared the way for his place to be anchored securely with his son. God bless Brother Dave’s family and his works of Teen Chalange, Times Square Church, and Please Pass The Bread ministries, and may they be some of the many jewels for his crown in glory.

I was registered to David Wilkerson Today by my then Boyfriend in 2007 – we got married in 2010. Since then i read Davids Devotions daily, and i have been rebuked and blessed. David is in heaven now! Halleluyah! It’s us to keep going, till we get there. The good news is, God will hold us by hand, as long as we allow Him.

I received Jesus as Saviour in 1977, and David Wilkerson was the first spiritual leader I knew. I am a product of Teen Challenge. I was discipled at the Walter Hoving Home in Garrison, NY, a Teen Challenge for women. Through the years Bro. Dave has ministered to me through his devotionals, newsletters, crusades, and books. He was a man of integrity. He was a mouthpiece for the Lord, always relaying the Word of the Lord to the Body of Christ. He has reached millions, and I am one of those millions who has benefited greatly from his life that was devoted wholly to God.

  • Tom R. Rowe, Jr

David Wilkerson-What a legacy! In 1965, after 11 years in active ministry,I was “burned out” and ready to leave the ministry. A friend gave me a copy of The Cross and the Switchblade and it changed my life. Now, 46 years later, I am still active in ministry. My passion for Christ and his people has never diminished. I will be forever grateful to God for the life and ministry of David Wilkerson and the impact he had on my life and on multitudes of others around the world. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.”(Revelation 13:14)

I read Rev. Wilkerson’s book: The Cross and the Switchblade many years ago as a new Christian. I also bought it for my grandson. I love getting Rev. Wilkerson’s devotionals. It is what I need every day.

After having received David Wilkerson’s Pulpit Series newsletters for about six years, in 1992 I had the opportunity to move to New York and work at Times Square Church. I have to say that the year I was there changed my life forever! There were many challenges with my move and for about six weeks, my children and I had no where to live. Pastor Dave heard about this and arranged for us to live at Hannah House, put all of my furniture in storage at the warehouse, which is now the homeless shelter. I saw first hand the love and concern he had for people. I also know many people including members of my family whose lives were changed because of Teen Challenge. He was truly a man after God’s own heart, because God’s heart is with the poor and the needy. What a wonderful legacy!! My prayers are with his family and close friends as they grief his loss, but I rejoice with them because I know we will see him again!!!

  • Debra Milton

I Love David dearly and waited daily for his e-mail. He faithfully lived to please his Savior. David Wikerson stayed in the fire with us when so many ministers fled in pursuit of fame/fortune, destorting the gospel we all once knew and loved.

  • Mercy

How truly grateful i am to have been influenced by such a man of God. When i was in the 6th grade, a relative gave me a book to read called “Please make me cry” by Cookie Rodriguez, she is a product of Teen Challenge. Oh how Pastor David touched my life by touching the live of Cookie Rodriquez. We can clearly see that by Pastor David’s obedience how a multitude of people have been touched. It will all be revealed one day to Pastor David when many will be in heaven because of this one man’s burden to follow Jesus. I pray God will raise up more David Wilkersons. I thank you Lord that your servant went from death to life.

  • Fred Taylor

Pastor David Wilkerson has been an encouragement to me , when i listened to his messages , knowing they were God inspired
His messages have inspired generations that would have otherwise been lost to the ways of the world.
He really was a man of God , through out his walk here on earth.
He will be missed , but not forgotten , and we will look forward to that day when we can join him ,in heaven.
Our prayers go out to the Wilkerson family , over their loss
of a father and a husband.
But knowing beyond a shadow of doubt that he is with our Lord and Savior has to be of some comfort.
We love and miss you Pastor David , and look forward to meeting you on the other side one day

From dust to dust return, Praise God for your powerful teaching and preaching. We will meet there oneday in glory. While I’m alive I will serve the lord with all of my heart as you did, and I will be open always for the Holy Spirit. You are example for me, and my prayers to your family and the Church that you left behind.

  • Carol C.

I first learned of David Wilkerson when I was 12 and I found the book The Cross and the Switchblade in our church library. I have never ever forgotten the book and the effect it had on me. Since that time I have had interaction with Teen Challenge in one way or other. One night in Pensacola Fl a group of Teen Challenge kids were in a church where we were visiting to be baptized, what a glorious and jubilant crowd what a profound effect Teen Challenge had on those kids and how their lives were forever changed. Pastor will be missed so much and I know that his family feels this same void. We will pray for comfort for the family but let me say what a difference this man of God has made in the lifes of people he never even met and what a modern day prophet he was to God’s people.. I am so sorry to hear of his passing but bless God what a difference he made in this world and all because he remained faithful and true to what God called him to do… Praise the Lord.

What a wonderful tribute and awesome testimony! David Wilkerson was a wonderful man of God who truly touched so many lives and he will be greatly missed. The fruit of his labor in the Lord will continue to bless many for the glory of God! Thank you, Lord, for the life of David Wilkerson!

Bro. Dave has been a part of our adventure in Christ with very timely messages inspired by God. We will miss him but know that he was a warrior for the faith and deserves his heavenly reward. May God continue to bless the ministries that bless so many of the widows, orphans, disadvantaged of this world.

  • Linda Rahaim

I have followed David’s ministries for about 39 years, receiving the newsletter, reading his books, watching the movie The Cross and the switchblade. Both him and his wife have ministered to me greatly. He will be sorely miss. A true humble man of God but I know one day we all will see him again with Jesus!!

  • Ismael Aguilar

I am so greatful for Rev. David Wilkerson life and ministry. I was blessed in being there in the early days when he started Times Square Church. I heard many of his sermons and I was challenged and encouraged to follow Christ with all my heart. I still mourn for him but I am greatful to God that Pastor is now there in glory! I pray one day I will see him again as is the prayer of so many others who where changed and blessed by his ministry. Thank you Pastor for your love and obedience to God. I will miss you! May God bless Gwen and the Wilkerson family!

  • Ed Diaz

It is overwhelming joy that we see how Brother David was truly loved by the people that have expressed themselves, which he touched in the postings in the different blogs and letters written. My wife and I will truly miss him, but one day we will all be reunited again and with Christ forevermore, but for now we will continue in the legacy he’s left us to press on, run the race and fight the good fight from Times Sq. Church to Mt. Carmel in Israel in the name of Jesus Christ.
We have seen and tasted the goodness of the LORD and now it’s time to spread this everywhere…
Thank you Abba Father for Brother Dave and keep his loved ones under the wings of your protection and provision. Bring healing to them and especially Sister Gwen. As you quickened and strengthened both Brother Dave and Sister Gwen now quicken and strengthen us in Holy Spirit power to go out with a cup of cold water and save souls – to the highways and the byways, to the lost and to the hopeless, to the poor and to the rich, to the sick and the dying, to the needy and the homeless, to those imprisoned by sin and those imprisoned by walls, to our soldiers and their loved ones, to the single mom and her child or children, to the widow, the orphan and the stranger in our land, to our friends and to our loved ones at home, to our classmates and co-workers, to our neighbors and to our community, and even to our enemies. May we always demonstrate love between the brethren and forever be our brother’s keeper. In our going out and in our coming in be with us Mighty God and bring glory to your name in us, with us, through us, and around us in the name of our beloved LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Rev. Wilkerson will be missed by millions around the world. He inspired believers to persevere in time of storm and to hold on to God’s promises. i admire him a lot, He will be missed. Who else is left amongst the man of God? May God help all of us who are still in this world. May we all reflect on his examples and his advises inorder for us to make it to eternity.

In 1984 I was in the back of Oak Cliff Assembly of God while David was preaching. I was pregnant with our first child and hadn’t been saved for long. I prayed to the Lord and told Him I could hear His correction but couldn’t hear him tell me He loved me. I went forward at the altar call. David Wilkerson worked his way through a deep crowd and came to me and said Jesus wants you to know HE loves you. I never looked back and his ministry through the mail never stopped working in my life. He was truly broken and spilled out for Jesus. Thank you Wilkerson Family for allowing this man to be who God wanted Him to be…

  • Diana Gray

I too received his daily devotional blog and it always spoke directly to me, and I would often forward it to a friend who I knew it would minister to as well. In a vast sea of people attempting to speak the mind of God, this man had a prophetic voice that I had come to trust. The depth of heart and the weaknesses he would share through his writing caused me to believe he was a man of integrity… truly a man after God’s own heart! He will be sorely missed on this earth!

  • sherry brown

My heart is heavy for the loss of this man of God. For many years he has encouraged me (and so many others) with the bulletins and the daily devotionals i’ve received for the past few years. These always came at a time they were much needed. The love of Jesus he shared with so many who need to know God loves them no matter ‘who’ they are, or where they’ve been, or what they’ done. His work will go on to change many lives. My prayers go to the family, church family and all those who have come to know and love Pastor David. He will be missed so very much throughout the world. sherry brown. < ♥

Dear Sister Gwen,to you and Pastor David’s children and grandchildren – my condolences on your loss, all of our loss of this great man of God, in the natural. God snatched him up instantly to Heaven, and left us with his shining life as an example of a Christ led life. Dear Gwen, Gary and all of Pastor Dave’s family – what a blessing we have had to have been in the presence of God through the words, actions and example of the Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit who did always come to us through David’s faith and witness. One night I encountered David alone in the aisles of Food Emporium shopping for you Gwen. I greeted him as a membe of TSC, and asked him how you were. He was so thrilled to say you were better, He said, “My Lady is better, has improved, is well.” We stood and he spoke with such innocent enthusiasm for your recovery and health. I know he is with you now as you recover today. God changed my life through coming to TSC, reading The Cross and The Switchblade, thru sitting with you one Sunday, and holding hands with you as David preached. Your book, Abiding In His Strength, witnessed the power of God’s love to you and David, a powerful man of God, and a real regular husband and father, as he mended and healed your marriage. You have been Brother Dave’s life long love, along with Jesus God The Holy Spirit. All I know from David’s witness is God has a plan, and HE is our only hope and answer, and that He is true to His promises. Bless you dear sister, and your family. Thank you God for David, and for all the miracles you have worked through him, and the lives that were saved and changed. Praise God for Teen Challenge, World Challenge, Times Square Church, for mentoring and giving Pastor Carter Conlon to us, and for setting up Pass The Bread. Thank you Jesus for touching me thru Pastor David. God Bless you dear Brother Dave.

Pastor David Wilkerson has been an encouragement to me , I always listened to his messages , knowing they were God inspired Word.
We are really Sad one side but other side we are sure He is with the Lord. We are going to see him with Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

For over 30 years I have been recieving his message of hope and encouragement. I hold him dear to my heart and he will be forever missed. But knowing that he is safe in the arms of his beloved Lord and Savior brings me great joy and to know that one day I will see him again. Praise God for the blessed hope we have in Jesus.

My heart was very saddened when I heard the news about this wonderful man of God. I never met David Wilkerson is person but over the years, through his ministry, his books and messages, I feel great love towards this man, who loved the Lord Our God with all his mind, body, soul and strength. I am humbled by his life, his passion and love for The King of Kings and that he set his face like a flint and stood firmly on the Solid Rock Foundation, Jesus Christ Our Lord…..Thank you brother….We’ll see you in Heaven…

Rev David was very humble. He had a heart for God. Very approachable and full of integrity. He has affected many people in Kenya. May God keep his family that legacy he left will live on.
    God bless you all.r

David Wilkerson will truely be missed. His prophetic ministry will live on till Jesus returns. He was an inspiration to me when he first started Teen Challente many years ago. More recently he re-inspired my life with his sermon a preached at his church in New York City. His daily devotions have been an encouragement and challenge to me on a daily basis. He will be greatly missed. I look forward to seeing him face to face in Heaven some day. Gods Blessing and Encouragement to his family.

He is not “lost” nor is he “gone” He’s just stepped over into the arms of the Savior and received his reward. His steps were always walking toward that “face to face” meeting that every believer waits for. His life is not over, it’s just begun. May the fruit of his life spread like wild fire throughout the nations. May the ministries he founded prosper in ways he could only dream about. May the comfort only Jesus can give be with his family and loved ones as they mourn the passing over of this great light which will never go out…it’s just gotten brighter..

David Wilkerson will be greatly missed. A man who had a solid track record of being greatly used by God, of integrity in ministry, and of steady perseverance for over 50 years. Not to mention a radical, daring faith that held out hope for those who the world gave up on. Such is rare indeed in these days. May we all follow his example. “Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” -Hebrews 13:7

  • Steve and Vada Allen

We are saddened to know that David Wilkerson will not be ministering to us again. We are thankful for the short time we had him in our lives and are at peace knowing he is receiving his Heavenly reward. We’re happy for him. We will treasure the words and ministry he has left with us and try to live up to the standard he has placed before us. We pray for the family and appreciate every one of you for your sacrifice in sharing your Father, Husband, Brother with us. May God bless all of you.

I weep at the passing of a dear and faithful brother in the Lord, for who will take his place.

I first heard of David back in the early 70s when I read “The Cross and the Switchblade” and saw the movie in a special presentation that had Niki Cruz speak afterwards telling his testimony and how David was instrumental in leading him to the Lord. It was such a blessing to hear how David had no fear to enter the streets where emminent danger lurked in these gang wars. The Lord had annointed him and sent him there with the protection of the Holy Spirit to bring them to know the Lord.

David’s heart for the leading of God was evident to the end.

I, along with many, had the privilege to see Brother David in South Africa for the Pastor’s conferance in Durban, 2004. In fact I was part of the organising committee with African Enterprise.Having just had our own little memorial service with some leaders who were there in 2004, we read out his last devotional “When all else Fails”, along with Gary’s own tribute. Thereafter, we showed his prophetical film “The Road to Armaggedon” It is so timeous that we are arranging to show it to the discerning churches. My only comment is: “A true Slave of God has come off the Harvest field to see his Master!”

All the Honour & Glory to God. David got a vision and he operationalised it to help many get saved both spiritually and physically. May God rest his soul in eternal peace. Those of us left let us further from where he left.I have read his book and follow his devotionals and have been blessed .I also have seen his work in Kenya which is a testmony of what many are saying about him

  • Ben & Tassy Lachhman

Thank you Pastor Dave Wilkerson for your example which truly ministered to us. Thank you for fulfilling the call of God to the end. Thank you for TSC, it is a place of refuge for us. Many years ago when the ministry was first started God gave me a dream of the Glory cloud in that house and fire on the roof that the fire men could not put out and the news media could not understand…I believe that your ministry on earth is complete but the ministry of the Holy Spirit is yet to come in a greater measure to the work you started here in NYC!
Thank you Jesus for my brother Dave Wilkerson!

  • http://maplesministries.org Steve Maples

I was sitting in the waiting room of a Chiropractors office waiting for my grandmother to get her spine looked at by her doctor. I picked up a magazine to read and under the magazine was a newsletter called, Time Square Pulpit Series”. I was a Christian and inspiring minister at the time and so I opted to read the Newsletter instead of the magazine. I had never heard of David Wilkerson or the cross and the switchblade until that day but I can say for a certainty – that first newsletter spoke so vividly to my heart that I was hooked forever. I began supporting World Challenge every since and that was over 20 years ago. In May of 2008 my wife and I drove our three young children from Phoenix Arizona to New York City to sit under David Wilkerson’s message, “Move your Mountain” (http://www.tscnyc.org/media_center.php?pg=sermons#top).
David Wilkerson was a modern day prophetic voice – his Pu;pit Newsletters were so often pinpoint accurate with issues in my personal life. I remember many years ago, a friend asked me to drive her and her brother from Indiana to Phoenix Arizona. I prayed about the trip and God gave me the green light to go. I asked the Lord to let me meet somebody from Teen Challenge in Phoenix while I was there for my brief 3 day visit. My first day in Phoenix I visited a Christian book store. While shopping for a new book a group of 3 or 4 teens setup a table just outside the door to the store – they were selling something so I tried to get past them without them spotting me and begging me for money ha. I was not successful for one of the teenage boys walked up to me and introduced himself and told me they were there from the local Teen Challenge to educate the local neighborhood about Teen Challenge’s ministry – PRAISE GOD. Three days later I got on a plan to go back home to Indiana and I had the dreaded middle seat in a three seat section. The window seat was taken by a young teenage girl – very nervous and her first time flying. Guess who was sitting in the isle seat next to me? An older man who introduced himself as a director for Teen Challenge in Southern California WOW – DOES GOD ANSWER PRAYER PRAISE THE LORD FOREVER!!! I will miss you David Wilkerson.

  • Marsha Ware

I was shocked and saddened when I heard of the death of this mighty man of God. I will sorely miss his daily devotionals and the Pulpit Newsletters. They were so encouraging and always a right on time message that I needed to hear. What a blessing he was! We will probably never realize the full impact of his ministry this side of heaven. I pray for comfort and peace to the Wilkerson family. Certainly Brother David has heard, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Praise be to God! Hallelujah!

  • Mrs. Angelo Germano (Faye)

I remember reading The Cross and the Switchblade back in the 70s. What a story. My Husband, an ordained minister respected your ministry and used your material up to the time of his death in a terrible car accident caused by others. My heart was heavy when I heard the news the day after your accident. You will be greatly missed.
My pray and love is sent to Gwen. God bless your family.

It is impossible to put into words what I feel in my heart at this time. My spiritual Father has gone Home to be with his Father God, Lord and best friend Jesus Christ…
I feel the whole foundation of my life has been shaken by this loss. Yet, we all know and believe that our Beloved Pastor Brother and Friend David Ray Wilkerson is exactly where The Lord need’s him to be…In His Arms and forever in our spirit hearts and minds. Until “We” all meet again safe in the harbor of Heaven with God…Let us rejoice that we also have a place in Heaven and will one day all join hands and dance and sing praises for eternity together. Hallelujah, Halleluyah!

  • http://www.HaitiForChrist.net Yvonne Melchionne Trimble

David Wilkerson was an uncompromising prophet of God. He fed us “poor” with words given him in the presence of Christ. He was not a social works minister he was a genuine soul winner preaching the cross.

In 1978 Brother Wilkerson allowed us young evangelistic missionaries to use the World Challenge flat bed truck in Port au Prince Haiti as a platform for monthly evangelistic crusades. Literally tens of thousands heard the gospel because of his selfless generosity to missionaries he did not even know.

Thank you, my dear brother, for laboring in the field with us.

  • Wanda Snow

Great man of God who is reaping his great reward. Thank you for your faithfulness and your great ministry.

  • Chyrl Statler

In these confusing times it was the devotionals written by Pastor David Wilkerson that brought comfort, peace and clairty. Hopefully the devotionals will still be available. I will miss him but through his devotion to Jesus Christ he lives on in the strongly established outreaches he began. Thank you Pastor David.

I have been receiving the Wilkerkson News letter for quite a few years. I just feel that when I read it, it is just the message that I need to hear at that time. If ever there was a man that I feel was a true example of Jesus and his love for others…it is David Wilkerson.

  • Rachel Howard

I became familiar with David Wilkerson when I was a Jr in high school in 1969. He has been my mentor all these years. His prophetic voice will ring throughout the ages to come. His messages are timeless and the prophecies yet to be fulfilled will surely come to pass. He was a mighty voice for God’s Voice. How greatly he will be missed. Thank you, Gary, for grabbing the baton and running with it. Sending our love and prayers to dear Gwen and all of the family.

  • Dannie j.

I Thank God For Pastor Wilkerson, for his daily devotionals, and his on line messages,Inspirerd by the holy spirit, have brought me to a better understanding of Gods word, and a closer walk with him. we will all miss, pastor david, and our prayers go out to his family and church. thankyou father for such a wonderfull brother in christ, and please let your spirit fall on those that are left behind, help us to pick up all the peices. Glory be to God. in Jesus Christ Amen

  • Joanne

David Wilkerson ministries is the most giving that I have ever come across. Receiving David’s messages, all that wisdom all that knowledge for only $3.oo,and the books for such a nominal cost, and his ministry still thrived because he was provided all his needs through the power of the Holy Spirit. David was truly a soldier of God, just seeking to bring people to the Lord, and to do His will. Being a senior, and living on a tight budget, I was sooo greatful. I will miss him so.
I keep in prayer his Wife Gwen and his children, and hope that the Lord will continue to use Gary his son to carry on in the ministry.

  • Paul E. Conley

Brother Dave was more than a pastor. He was like a father. The Lord be with Gwen and the family. May the Lord soon return bring comfort to those who mourne such a profound loss. May we ALL be caught up with our Saviour in the air. Come Lord…..quickly…..Amen.

  • Jeanette Gayhart

I found a tract in the parking lot of a restaurant shortly after Mr. Wilkerson had visited Boise, Idaho. My son was little so it had to have been in the ’80′s. I began supporting his ministry and fed on his news letters which I still have many of them from that time to present. I always thought God raised up David Wilkerson to be a prophet and especially to America. My spirit would always witness to the things he wrote in those news letters even though most were a bit edgy.
I will miss him and his writings but I know he is with Jesus and would not want to come back for anything or anyone. My husband Bob went home to be with the Lord in 2008 and the Lord graciously allowed me to see him with Our Lord at church the following Sunday. He looked about 35 yrs old and had the confidence and look of satisfaction I never saw in him on earth. He was always kind of down cast and beat down by life here. So truly God make all things new in His divine presence. I hope God allows Gwen to see David in that light. Blessings!

Beautiful Tribute to a wonderful Ministry that shows how God can work through one life that is totally submitted to Him! Thank you and may the work continue.

I first met Davie and Gwen in Rehrsburg, pa in early 1970′s . He came there to Teen Challenge Center to preach to the guys and it had rained that day and the guys all had damp blankets on the ground where they were each sitting and there was a special chair for him, since he was the speaker…Louie Valez was singing that evening…and he saw an older lady standing and pulled his chair over for her to sit on and sat on the damp blanket in his suit, with the teen challenge men…I never forgot the sing of humility, I followed his ministry and supported him best as I could…I will miss him and his sermons that were sent out…God Bless Gwen and Family…Thanks for sharing him……Beverly Martin, mo

David Wilkerson first touched my heart in a film called “The Cross and the Switchblade.” My wife and I have been receiving his newsletter for about 15 years now. I stand amazed at what God can do through one simple man who walks in obedience to The Father of glory. “To be like Jesus, To be like Jesus, all I ask is to be like Him.” David walked as an Elisha the Prophet, he walked with a double portion anointing. He walked in humility. He walked as a son of the living God. He will continue to speak through videos, books, and audio messages. He was a template, an example we can all follow, but He would say “Follow Christ!” Baruch haba B’Shem Adonai – Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord (YHVH)!

  • Juana Garlington

David Wilkerson, was a great teacher and he will be greatly missed, I read his teaching as often as I could, he was very inspiring and gave us hope in time of distress.
    You will be missed.

  • Theresa Brown

I like so many, will miss my daily devotion time with David Wilkerson. Everyday I read his devotion during my morning coffee time and felt The Spirit speaking right to me. Thank you Brother David, for your obedience, sacrifice and love to all. You are missed.

  • Howard Collver

In 1961 David came to CBC (then CBI) to recruit workers for Teen Age Evangelism (now called Teen Challenge) in NYC. I was graduating and it was like a sudden call from heaven. My wife was pregnant with our third child so NYC was a bit scary. But David was an encouragement and thus started my ministry – on the streets of NYC! That is where I learned to preach. We spent two years there during the time the book The Cross and the Switchblade was written. What a thrill to see the miracles of new life in CHrist! He had so many stars in his crown he won’t be able to wear it! Our prayers are with the family, especially our friend, Gwen!

I praise God for the time I read Cross and the Switchblade, it gave me hope that we are not lost when people take the time to come alongside us and encourge us. Thank you David Wilkerson for being such a support to lots of us who have had the pleasure of reading your amazing book.

I pray that the Lord will keep you safe until the day of Resurrection. I pray also for the protection and grace for your lovely wife. Praise God for the support of loving wives. Praise God for His wonderful generoisty. Grace always finds a way.

“Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” I pray that the Lord Jesus will carry you through the sorrow of your loss. But, I rejoice to know “that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” Brother Wilkerson now resides with the heroes of his faith with our Lord and Saviour, and soon we shall meet them face to face!

I first read The Cross and the Switchblade at the age of twelve years in 1966. Being raised in a traditional Pentecostal home, Brother Wilkerson’s message was a piercing truth and a radically different approach. Later, I was privileged to hear him speak at a A/G General Council meeting. His message challenged my heart, and I will never forget it.

Over the years, I would receive his monthly letters. While living overseas, we were no longer able to receive them. This past fall, I found his daily devotionals. It has truly seemed as though each one was written with a knowledge of the situation we were going through. His words and messages from the Lord have been a call to grow deeper in the knowledge and obedience of the Lord. They have been encouraging, comforting, challenging, full of hope and wisdom, love and grace.

Thank you to all the Wilkerson Family for your dedication and obedience to the calling of the Lord Jesus Christ. May God bless you.

  • Alberta Jackson

I will truly miss this man of God. His daily email encouragements always came on time…never too late or too early; and many times they were confirmations of what the Lord was already saying and doing in my heart. I want to say thank you. I have saved many of his encouragements in a folder that I read again and again. Wilkerson family, you know that you will see him again but until then keep your ear toward heaven and your hand on the plow.

  • Sherry McGinley

David Wilkerson, Man of God, Faithful Warrior. The first time I heard of David Wilkerson, I was 12 years old. I heard about a Bible waving preacher in New York City and that he had gone to the city to reach the drug addicts and present to them the love and salvation of Jesus Christ. Because of his response to the call of God, there was a revival that spread across the United States. It even reached the small country church that my Dad pastored in Mississippi. So much of this is repeated in the hearts of many people across the world.
I find comfort in knowing that your family can rest in the knowledge that your father has been called home. May the God of all comfort and peace be with all of you during this time of grief. I will keep you in my prayers and also pray for complete recovery for your mother.

  • Tyson Ann Trecannelli

A great man of God has gone home, and for that I give praise! To me he was a watchman on the tower and a true prophet of God. He will be missed so greatly on this side of eternity. As a new christian 35 ago and even now still in this last season of my life, his ministry, writings, and devotionals call me to a higher walk and standard and for that i give praise and thanks and my heart is so grateful.

  • Ed Lobdell

In 1973 I was a 20 yr old man “happily” on a path of destruction. Thanks to the insistance of some friends I attended a David Wikerson Youth Rally. I honestly don’t remember what he said but I know that I met Jesus that night in that high school gym.
This was the beginning of my walk with the Lord. I have never looked back, accept in appreciation. Pastor Dave’s faithfulness to come to the middle of nowhere and bring a message of salvation and love forever changed my life.
Thirty years later I met the love of my life, Darlene.
The Lord brought her into my life all the way from NYC where she had been a member of Times Square Church for 14 yrs. The first thing we had in common was a great appreciation for Pastor Dave.
Since that time we have “attended” TSC regularly on the web. Brother Dave continued to speak into our lives as he came humbly and fearfully to the pulpit carrying God’s Word.
We will always remember him and thank God for him in our lives. Our prayers are for sister Gwen and the Wilkerson family.

  • Linda Hubbard Slicer

In 1974 I met Jesus on my own Damascus Road. He changed my life forever! The people who I met led me to the Lord and got me into Teen Challenge. The training and love I received through that ministry has sustained me for all these years. Thank you David for extending and holding up the Arms of Jesus to all of us. Heaven surely rolled out the Gold Carpet when you entered its gates.

    • Betsy Dettloff

I enjoyed your comment, the picture of a rolled out Gold Carpet was vivid. I loved him too. As I was searching for God as a young adult in the 70′s, the Lord led me to The Cross and the Switchblade. It was through that book that I realized it was Jesus Christ I was searching for and that he was indeed alive. Shortly thereafter a high school friend called me up and started telling me about salvation. Then I went to a charismatic prayer meeting where I saw the love of God among the college students there. Shortly thereafter, I asked Jesus into my life while sitting alone on a porch. That was 1972. Thank you, Pastor Dave, for the blessing you have been to my life.

  • carol abts

I have been receiving Pastor Davids’ devotionals for about a year. I have read many of his books, so part of his spirit will always be here.
    He will surely be missed.
    God bless, and Peace,

  • Bob Kleinheksel

For the past two years or so, I have received Dr. Wilkerson’s daily email devotionals. They have meant so much to me. I shared many of them with prisoners with whom I correspond via a prison Bible Study ministry. Many of these inmates would post these devotionals on their prison bullentin boards thereby sharing his words with scores of others. Many prisoners have been richly blessed by them as have I.

Even though I have never met Dr. Wilkerson in person, I feel as though I have lost a dear friend. One day soon I plan to meet him face-to-face in heaven where he is now.

Blessings on Dr. David’s family and staff and all those who are morning his departure.

  • Jan

I was sad to hear of Bro. Wilkerson sudden passing. His daily messages were such a blessing to me. I will pray for the family, the comfort of the Lord is our healing at this time. May the Lord continue to bless his ministry and all that carry on his calling.

  • Melinda Whitley

Though our precious pastor is looking at the face of Jesus and rejoicing, the world has lost one of the great saints of the last and this century. He continued to bless us with his daily devotions, sermons, and newsletters; always speaking the truth in love and never fearing man–but always relaying Jesus’ message fearlessly and tenderly–even when it was a hard word we needed to hear. We love him and we will join him soon, praising our faithful Jesus at the throne. Our pastor–leading the way as always. We miss you but rejoice in your great blessing. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God–Jesus– for receiving His faithful servant, our pastor, David Wilkerson. We continue to pray for our sister Gwen for a complete recovery and of course, the Wilkerson family, that the they would be healed as well and that the Lord would comfort them in their time of need. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen.

  • june

I truly thank God for having raised up this precious warrior and leader who impacted his world in so many areas. I enjoyed reading the cross and switchblade, learnt so much from his pulpit series and was able to help with Teen Challenge in my own Country. His devotionals were such a source of encourgement to me and to many readers. The legacy lives on in our hearts.
I know that his widow Mrs. G. will find solace in Jesus her Savious and Comforter and the memories will also comfort her. Thanks again Brother David for your obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Joanne Villegas

I have followed David Wilkerson’s ministry since the 1970′s when I recevied Jesus as my Savior. I have gotten his sermon letters for many years and also his daily devotionals most recently. Through tough times those sermon letters brought me exhortation, and comfort, and showed me how to live more like Jesus. I will miss brother Wilkersons’ honesty and his burning desire to share the love of God with those who need it. I feel like I have lost a father and even though I know he is with our Lord Jesus, I am going to miss him not being here to keep sending those precious letters of love to encourage and exhort the family of God. I can’t imagine how Gwen must be feeling, her other half is now gone away from her, I pray God’s strength and peace for her and the children and grand children who will really be missing there beloved husband, father, and grandfather. I look foward to when Jesus returns, I can envision that David will be right there with Jesus when He returns to gather His church and so we will ever be with the Lord. Even so come LORD JESUS!

  • Frances

How deeply I will miss Dave’s penetrating words. His encouragement to trust in the darkest of storms, to never give up, to continue in faith and to have hope was simply amazing! His love for truth, his fearless sermons changed so many lives as well as mine!!! His prophetic voice, the warnings the Lord gave him for us all; how precious it all was and still is!!!

  • Mr. Tracy Palmer

I hope I can find the words to express how I feel.
I want to start out by saying that Pastor David was just a man. I do not worship him. I say that because there are a few people on this earth that are so filled with the Holy Spirit and so much like Jesus that we can forget that they are but servants of the Master. And what a wonderful servant Pastor David is. I know that is the way he would want to be remembered. He was a truely humble man of God and did not like to be thought of more highly than what he was. He occasionaly reminded us in his honest and humble manner that he too had things he struggled with. I have benefitted greatly in the last 18yrs from Pastor David’s messages from Jesus. I’m trying not to exagerate when I say, I don’t know how I would have made it through the hardest times in my life without those loving, convicting, encouraging, enlightening, educational and sometimes stern words that I recieved through Pastor David, from the Father. I realize that The Father could have and would have used someone else if necessary. But He chose Pastor David. And I’m glad. I appreciated his humor, his down to earth yet heavenly personality in which he delivered his messages. The shear volume of which is staggering! He was someone I could relate to in his straight forward style and I could tell that he loved me eventhough he didn’t know me. Or did he? He was a prophet not just in the sense of being able to read the ‘hand writting on the wall’ and having visions, but he spoke prophetic words into my life and countless others. There were times when I couldn’t find a good church to attend and fed myself on the Word of God, prayer and anything I could get. I would sometimes run from the mailbox to the little shack where I lived with my new ‘Pulpit Series’. Anxious, even desperate for a fresh word from God. I have stacks of Pulpit Series messages that I have saved. I even started saving them in a loose ring binder. I can look at some of them and recall the time in my life when I recieved that message and smile. Many times, (if not all the time), it was the perfect message at the perfect time. I have read his books when nothing else could hold my interest. I am still sifting through “Dearly Beloved”. How many men can say, ‘Dearly Beloved’ and really mean it and have it mean something special to you? How many people like me that are not in the relative ‘public view’ of specific ministries like Team Challenge are out there? Hidden jewels for Jesus and Pastor David’s crown? People that have been blessed by Pastor David’s faithfulness to God and His kingdom? Easily millions!
I love you Pastor David and Sister Gwen!(one of my hero sisters of faith) I miss you, eventhough we never met. After I see Jesus and my parents, I will stand in line, (however long it takes), to give you a hug and thank you for what you have done for me through your extreme love and radical faithfulness and obedience to Jesus and the Father.

    • Mr. Tracy Palmer

      Sorry, I meant ‘Teen Challenge’.
I got a little emotional and slipped.
      Even after proof reading!

    • Mary Zielinski

Your words are the mirror of my thoughts almost exactly. Thank you.

    • kp

How I appreciate you comments and view of a man who led such a large ministry .

As one who has endeavored to follow the Saviour and has been supportive of men who have lauded the Saviour but indeed put themselves above all others …in every way wounding the sheep, I find myself in tears as I watched the video .

I want so much to be able to engage with others who love the LORD but the large ministries that have used people to elevate themselves and build ‘kingdoms’ after their own names remains a distant hope .

I find as I have been moving about ..seeking a fellowship that has genuine respect and hunger for the things GOD has been guiding me to study and learn in His WOrd …are very very few.

I have grown to distrust any group that claims to be ‘doing the Lord’s work ‘ and instead have contented myself with allowing that any who pass through my life’s path I will share what GOd has been correcting and teaching me through His WORD

I have been led to see my own flesh ..ugh ..and to realize what I am capable of …ugh again …I have longed to be in the fellowship of those who genuinely love the Lord and fear to take glory for themselves
      but find it difficult .

I realize that it is also hard for a man who is desiring to love and serve GOD to avoid the mantle that some place upon him …and maybe even harder to resist glorying in it .

I pray that your view of this man is the true one.

I admire the love he has shown ..I read his book many years ago ..and was so moved by his devotion .

I am moved once again as I see this video

I once was involved with a man who claimed the Lord ..and he took many of the ‘Jesus People ‘ of the 70′s into HIS FOLD…and gradually built a world wide ministry …it eventually became a CULT …and thus many who loved the LORD were turned into his own ‘cattle’ in a sense…

The devotion of those who began without and earthly shepherd but hungry for the TRUTH of the WORD of God were gathered in by a man claiming to be a teacher of the WORD and who honored the WORD and nothing but the WORD .

HOw it degenerated into such a mess is probably not a new story …but as I looked at this very well done video it caused me to remember the various polished presentation that we once poured our youth into with love and faithful desire to do the ‘will of GOD ‘.

I am not bitter as you might glean from this ..but saddened …I remember the loving fellowship we enjoyed as a family …but I am not sure it was meant to be in this world

Those who love the Lord are now in need of instruction from the LORD from within his WORD and from gleaning truths they hear or learn from other …but NOT without examination of the scriptures.

New unlearned sheep are shorn easily when they have no knowledge or understanding as from their childhood..

Yet GOD is faithful …through those various trials he has brought me to an education to realize HE is the only faithful one …all who love him LOVE his WORD and HIS NAME ….and I am encouraged by hearing both …

I am thankful for the WORD preached …as Paul …whether in contention or in love…knowing that He was set for the defense and the loving exortation as long as Christ is preached in truth.

I am thankful for the hearts of the genuine loving followers of the LORD indeed …in spirit and in truth which HIS WORD is both …and the same

I thank you for your expression of your experience with the things in mind and told that give us the view of a MAN who did not raise himself up yet was raised …not for his own glory but for the glory and service to his LORD. ..

May he now in his hope see him Face to Face …even as he saw the LORD daily …before his FACE in the glory of HIS WORDS.

Thank you …for all that this world has enjoyed of such a life …

I too have followed David’s ministry since the book “The Sword and the Switchblade”. What a remarkable man, steward of God. A perfect example of obedience to God in carrying out the work that was before him. The world will surely miss the faithful servant who definitely was a man after God’s own heart.

Pastor Wilkerson’s daily devotionals have made such a positive impact on me since the loss of my husband, almost 2 years ago. They inspired me to keep finding the strength to “find the good fight” and look outside of myself to find ways to help others find hope in Jesus. I was saddened, but strangely not surprised, to learn of his passing because he often spoke of how close he believed those of us who live in these last times are to meeting our Jesus. So, I feel the Holy Spirit was somehow preparing him for that appointment. My prayers now are with Mrs. Wilkerson and their family-but Bro. Dave is surely rejoicing with the one he honored with his life. Thank you, Bro. Dave.

i first met pastor David after finishing teen challenger training center. i recieved a scholarship to attend the school of ministry in founded in Lindale, Texas, Twin Oaks Leadership Academy. i have fond memories when i would attend classes, chapel and travel with the group to help with his crusades. i remember washing his cars and when i did my daily walk early in the morning, you would always see the light in his private office window on as he was proably studying the word or prayer. I remember the times during the corpoate lunch hour, we all knew pastor David was in the building becuase the atmospher would change. As he walked in such purity and conscience of the presence of God in his life. His life and family really maked my life for ever. I am a better man today because of the foundation i recieved while having the blessing of his presence. My family and i pray for his family that the Lord will continue to fill them with the peace of His presence.

The past two years I joined others in receiving Bro. David’s devotional thoughts. Wow – the impact it has made on my spiritual. Raised in a Christian home, I still lacked a lot of spiritual insight. The two days before his passing, the devotional thoughts he gave spoke strongly to my heart advising me to rid me heart of these things. These are two special days I will never ever forget. Thank You Jesus for the “Davids” in our world who are not ashamed or afraid to speak truth. Bro. David will never be forgotten. May the blessings of his ministry continue to be passed on and may Sis. Gwen recover quickly from her injuries. May our sovereign God give her great comfort and peace during this time of great loss. God Bless!

A very hearty amen to all the above testimonies of how David Wilkerson spiritually fed all of us. His love for the Lord and devotion to follow the Lord’s leading have blessed most of the world. My heart was torn out of me to learn of his passing, but rejoiced to know he is resting in the arms of our heavenly father. Praise God for a man truely sold out to Jesus!Sharon P

A friend of mine at school started sending out daily messages from Pastor Wilkerson. I loved them. Those sermons became a part of my mornings and continued througout the day. I thank God for Pastor Wilkerson and his messages. To the family “Thank you for sharing your father, your husband or brother with me.” I will continue to pray God’s Blessings over your life. I know you’re gonna miss him and so will a million other people but God has him now and i know that’s the best place for him. We love you and will always remember Pastor Wilkerson.

As a teenager and a college student David Wilkerson made a HUGE life-changing impact on my life. Then as a youth pastor and state youth director of the Chicago Outreach he impacted me so deeply. He even gave my wife and I a van to travel the roads of Illinois with in ministry. What a man of God. My prayers are with his precious family. Only heaven will reveal all the fruit of his labors.

Thank you Lord for blessing eveyone of us with a precious man that loved you and obeyed your call. it was through his obedience that many seeds were planted and produced a harvest. Bless his family and give them and each of us your strength to carry for your truth as Pastor David did. My heart and the hearts of many mourn but heaven rejoices with his arrival in heaven. We will see you again Pastor Dave that is our goal. Thank you father God thank you Lord Jesus thank you Holy Spirit.

David Wilkerson was truly a man who sought to share the Power and Authority of our Lord Jesus Christ. What a blessing the Lord has blessed us with in David Wilkerson’s obedience to His spirit. I mourn the loss for this world’s sake. I pray that those Brother Wilkerson has discipled will go forth and continue teaching with the same understanding imparted unto him. May his family find comfort and may that comfort spring forth rivers of blessing as Christ’s love flows back to that One Living Water!

David was a true comitted servant of God. Uncompromising and with a balance of love and truth like I never heard a pastor do before. His book “the New Covenant Unveiled” was a key point in turning my life around as I was finally convicted of my sin and turned to Jesus.

I thank God for the David Wilkersons of the world and hope that his legacy lives on- it certainly will with me and the people I come in contact with.

God bless and keep Brother David.

I cannot express totally how I felt when I heard of Bro. David’s passing. For the past 16 years, his pulpit series, tapes, videos and cd’s have done more for me than anything else in my walk with the Lord. I have never met him personally, but I couldn’t feel more close to him even if I did. Every sermon spoke to me personally, as if he was speaking only to me and I’m sure others feel the same way. His daily sermonette’s never failed to encouage, bless and help just at the right time. The world has truly lost a beautiful prophet of God. He will be missed sorely. I cannot imagine how sis. Gwen is going to get through this, but I know God will be there for her. He was her soulmate! Gwen, we love you and pray for your speedy recovery, physically and emotionaly and spirtually. God Bless you! BECAUSE HE LIVES…

David was a prophet who spoke to his generation.
Moses our servant is dead. It is near time to rise up and enter into the promised land. Pastor Wilkerson spoke of tribulation to come. In recent devotionals his voice shook with a trembling concern for his church, for the visions he had. Yet he said to us in a recent message speaking by the spirit, that there would be an ‘outpouring in these latter times’. that the Lord was ‘saving the best wine for the end’.. and Pastor Wilkerson said.. ‘I hear the sound of an abundance of rain’. (Maybe too he was hearing the sound of our tears. I groan inside myself, missing him)
Let us now pray for Pastor Conlon and arise and press forward.

About a year ago, I started receiving Brother David Wilkerson’s devotionals on my email. I had not signed u for them, and I deleted them. I later found out my dad had signed me up to receive them. I began to read them every day. Though I’ve never met David Wilkerson, his messages have greatly shaped my walk with Christ!

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/faithfulalways2Jesus Crying out 2 Jesus

Having not heard or known of David Wilkerson, many years ago we prayed fervently crying out to God where is your man of God who passionately loves you, who is surrendered to you and teaches the Word of God without error and no compromise, dear God where is he? Then the Lord in God’s special way of answering prayers, brought David Wilkerson into our lives. We are grieving so very much that our spiritual father, the only one who taught and led God’s people in absolute truth of God’s Word with no error, who never compromised, who was truly a surrendered servant to the Lord passionately in love with Jesus Christ has gone home. We will keep all of David Wilkerson’s ministries and all of the Wilkerson family surrendered before the throne of God in prayer, We will greatly miss you dear brother until we see you again. Please Lord tell our brother David Wilkerson how much we miss and love him and thank you.

“Here Wayne! Read this.” My mother would say as she handed me the latest sermon Bro Wilkerson had sent her.

So I would sit beside her and read it, many times out loud.

Today Tue 03MAY2011 I got this news, and bursted out into tears. Because I picked up where mother left off, and when the mail man would bring new sermon it was like mother was saying-from Heaven, “HERE WAYNE! read this!.

David Wilkerson became one of mothers prayer partners for her family salvation the week David Wilkerson had his first service in Knoxville, TN.

My prayers are for the; Wilkerson Family and staff.

I can’t tell you how saddened I was when I heard of Brother Wilkerson’s passing. I first heard of him when he went to New York to work with gang members, see them saved, delivered from drugs, and begin the Teen Challenge ministry. I’ve received his monthly messages for years which were a tremendous blessing and encouragement. These messages almost always spoke right to the need I was facing at the time, and I knew I could trust his teaching of the Word. Though I will miss his encouraging messages terribly, I will bless the Lord for taking Brother Wilkerson home now that his work on earth is finished. I pray for peace and comfort to all his family and a speedy recovery for his beloved wife Gwen. I pray for God’s help getting her through this time of grief. God be with you all.

I am so sad. David Wilkerson was my spiritual Grandfather. From the time I was 8 or 9 I have followed his teachings via books, newsletters, and tapes. When I went through dark valleys in my life I sent letters to World Challenge in my early years of following the Lord. I went to NY one time and was able to attend a Fri night prayer service at TSC. David Wilkerson wasn’t there, but I could sense the presence of the Lord so thick. I remember weeping during the service thinking, this is my pilgrimage. (That’s how much David Wilkerson made an impact on my life) I’ve always wanted to meet him and thank him for his obedience to the Lord. His Death had me crying for days. I’m still impacted and trying to find closure in this. He was God’s voice in our times. There will never be a more passionate, honest, broken, and humble pastor Like David Wilkerson. It’s going to take awhile to get over this. He made such an impact on this man from my youth. I know he is rejoicing with the Lord.

  • Lois and Greg Welman

We have followed the successful ministry of David Wilkerson and Teen Challenge since the 60′s. We have read all his books and watched his movie, “The Cross and The Switchblade”.
In the last couple of years we have enjoyed receiving his daily devotionals as they were always encouraging and He spoke the Word boldly and with great anointing. We grieve the loss of a powerful man, but we know that he is now dancing on the streets of gold, fellowshiping with like minded saints that went before him and with his Lord and Savior! It is our loss and his gain! His family is in our thoughts and prayers! We know that the ministry will continue strong until the day that Jesus returns! Be blessed far more than you can ask or think!!!!

  • Diana Davison

I am crushed to learn that the man that led me to the Lord almost 40 years ago was killed in eastern Texas. I will NEVER forget the day back in 1972 when I went to a youth rally at the Chrysler Arena in Ann Arbor, MI. Dave Wilkerson was there preaching and he gave us his testimoney of how he was able to lead a dangerous gang leader Nicky Cruz to the Lord. He gave us the gospel message that night and at that moment I trusted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the entire arena. I remember bags of pot were being tossed down into the stands along with cigarrettes and if I remember right, bottles of booze as well. Unbelievable to see the Holy Spirit moving through that place and hundreds of young people repenting right before my very eyes. I think every person that was unsaved – got saved that day. This man’s life and his ministry has touched me deeply. I know he is home now with the person that means more to him than anyone else, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord used this man in so many ways. His COMPASSION for the poor, homeless, drug addicts, prostitutes, widows and orphans is unlike any pastor, preacher, teacher or evangelist I have ever heard or come in contact with. This man truly knew what it meant to LOVE your neighbor as yourself. His whole life was ministering to these people all over the globe and MILLIONS have been saved and lives transformed as a result to his obedience to Christ. I will continue to support his ministry until God calls me home. I am praying for his dear wife and the rest of the family. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Pastor David WILKERSON was a prophet of God, by his predications, everyone found what God spoke to him/her
personally. I have learned a lot through him. May his legacy
continue to touch more and more people every where.May God give reconfort to his family.

My heart is so saddened by the passing of David Wilkerson. For forty something years now I have with eager anticipation recieved his newsletter. Eager because I knew what he had to say was well worth stopping everything to read his words. My thoughts and prayers are with the Gwen and the Wilkerson family. Comfort and peace be upon you as you dwell in the Lords presence at this painful time.

Wow! David Wilkerson was truly a man after Gods own heart. To hear of his death was a shocker. But though his passing it has only showed me that death comes to all.I had to evaluate my heart and remember only one life will soon be past but only what’s done for Christ will last.Shocked into reality! My life has been tremendously blessed by David Wilkerson’s messages since I was a teenager. Whether by his books, devotionals, TSC pulpit series and audio/video through internet.

In the past years, me, my wife and our daughter have been reading his devotionals daily. Those were words of encouragement inspired by the Holy Spirit and shared by a godly man.

Thank you Lord for his life!

  • Andreas Steffensen

15 years ago, as a young 18 year old missionary, I came across The Cross and The Switchblade. Upon reading the book, I was utterly challenged by the commitment of Brother Dave to prayer, his faith, and unwavering commitment to God. I thought to myself, if this man can seek God with his whole heart, why can’t I? Soon after, in our small missionary library, I discovered a few tapes with some of the early sermons Brother Dave preached at TSC. I listened to each of them probably 20 times or more. In his sermons I found such conviction, clarity, and a knowledge of God I don’t think I had ever come across outside of the Bible itself. The teaching in the books, tapes, and newsletters transformed my life, and is an important cornerstone of my faith.

A few years later, I found myself on staff at TSC, and had the privilege of sitting directly under the teaching of Brother Dave for a time. I always look back at these times with great joy. I met my wife at TSC, and during this time, he and Pastor Carter spoke much of the New Covenant, and getting to understand our place “In Him” and His life “in Us” forever changed me.

Most of us will perhaps never have the same far reaching ministry as Brother Dave did. But each of us can live the same life “In Christ” as he did, and experience “The Life of Christ” flowing through us to bless people all around us.

The last week has been an emotional week for me. I have considered what God was able to do through Brother Dave – a willing vessel, and a relentless follower of Christ – and have found that I perhaps am less willing, and less relentless than I would like to think of myself.

“God give me, and all of us who has followed the life of Brother Dave the willingness and humility to follow his example in a relentless pursuit of you.”

Thank you Sister Gwen, and all of Brother Dave’s family, for sharing this great man of God with all of us. We know of the countless sacrifices, you all have made over the years, and in so doing, many of us has been blessed.

    • Mr. Tracy Palmer

The passing of Pastor David has also caused me to do some introspection and to use this man of God’s example of how to spend my life. He is challenging me, even from Heaven!

      • Harley Walker

Amen, my dear brother.. likewise.. as a former co-ordinator,counselor for Teen
challenge in Washington State,.. I have often had the occasion to reflect upon David’s ministry with the same results as you so well say here. God Bless you as You go on for God.

  • ML Tyner

I will miss this wonderful man of God. I so loved his newsletters through the years. When I read the “Cross and the Switchblade” many years ago I was so in awe of his complete trust in the Lord and how mightily God worked in his life. I know that heaven is rejoicing with his homecoming. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, may God comfort you at this time when they have to say goodbye to a beloved family member. I am in agreement with a previous post, Thank you Brother Wilkerson for your faithfulness as you certainly a “light into the darkness”.

I will so always miss Pastor Wilkerson. In the American church, he was a shining example of faith and courage and that is why I followed his ministry. As so many churches are abandoning the inner city in lieu of suburban elite neighborhoods, he did not. His words meant so much to me at times that I was so down. God bless His family and the ministry.

  • Denise Jackosn

I am rather speechless in trying to express my deep thankfulness to David Wilkerson for changing my life, and also deep thankfulness to his family for sharing their dad and husband, to follow the Lord’s leading to change lives. “Well done my good and faithful servant” is surely the Lord’s words to David. David’s impact is immeasurable! I love him dearly. He was the example of Jesus, his caring heart, his faithfulness to our Lord, and teaching others how to worship and live for our Lord. I pray God’s very best blessings and comfort to the Wilkerson family. You are greatly loved.

The tribute to him was great, and I got the message loud and clear, we must seek Gods face and keep him number one in our life no matter what. My heart goes out to his wife, children and his family and close friends. May the God of comfort comfort and strengthen you. God Bless you.

What a loss to so many millions of people. I read his story in the Cross and the Switchblade, read all his books and received his monthly message for about 20 years–still have many of those copies. He was such an encourager. I waited eagerly for his message because I knew it would always offer help for my circumstances—He knew his Lord so well that he could bring blessings out of the Word in such a special way.
Thank the Lord his wonderful family will carry on his work.
    Thank you Brother David.

When I heard the news on April 29th my heart was suddenly struck with a sweet sadness. David Wilkerson who has been my guide on many occasions has gone from this world.
When someone who we only have briefly met or have known once long ago, dies we often greet the news with a certain regret. If only I could have talked to him or seen him, we say. We feel often fell a sense of loss a certain sense of something undone, an opportunity forever lost on our part.
It was not the way with David Wilkerson, I did not know him personally, did not know of the deep love Dave gave to all the individuals he met with. Others like Nicki Cruz testify how Dave was to them the father or the brother that they otherwise never had. To me he was a voice of Gods word, a word I often misunderstood and rejected as too hard. I fact I was the one that was too hard when I saw the word beloved which he used to address us all in his publications. I was always prodded with a spirit of rebellion that was cynical. I did not believe that Dave really meant that word. How could he call beloved people who he did not even know. and Dave preached things that were hard for me to accept, not because they were wrong but because of the spirits of rebellion that dwelt within me.
See, I have had a desire to be someone. I was more important to me personally to be the smart one able to see over the crowd and forecast the immediate future. I give political, advice on several blogs. It is not that the advice I gave was wrong. It is that it was incomplete. That is because “Lest the Lord keeps the city, the watchman waits in vain.” the Lord is about to pour his righteous wrath on all our cities. It is too late to try and clean up our act. Fallen mankind cannot restore even a semblance of righteousness to this world. Nor is it a job for the saved , Gods elect. Our job is akin to those people who pulled people from cars and rooftops during the Japanese tsunami. They could not stop the tide nor save the city, they were to save the lives of the people they could reach. Likewise so are we.
Even before April last year 2010 being very busy with the oils cleanup, I stopped reading Dave’s sermons . I did not even realize he had retired from Times Square Church, I thought he would never retire from it.
Dave had moved on to his last earthly mission from God, to feed the starving children of this world, something that must have moved him deeply, and I did not even know about it.
I was busy during 2010 with many worldly things. Most of them in the end came to nothing.
But in this last few months something has finally happened to this old rebel. I finally realized that one could not serve God and man at the same time. That to plan and scheme for success in business instead of putting the Lord first was something that would end either in complete failure in the business sense or me rejecting Gods way and my own salvation to scheme and connive in the world of man. A world that is rapidly drawing to a close. In these last months, I have asked God to work with me and have surrendered ( most of )my stubbornness to Him.
That is why I can now open my heart to his message because that is what Christ is really all about. opening our hearts to his gentle love. When Dave said ‘beloved’ I now know he was seeing all the faces of those he had brought to the joy of the lord, something I have never done. I have taken my kids to church and even seen the spirit come strongly on one of them, but have rarely felt the sort of agape love that brings tears to one eyes when you see another persons suffering or pain.
You cannot love if you cannot empathize, and a spirit of anger or conceit blocks both empathy and love. It is also difficult to express love if you do not believe that the Lord loves you, if you see him as a hard unyielding set of rules we can never live up to, a source of condemnation and a scourge to this world.
The truth is that gods standards of purity and righteousness can never be lessened, that to accept sin is to sin and to sin is to die and god will not.
Jesus the sinless son of God, the kinsmen to God being conceived by the holy spirit, and kinsman to man through the genes and body of Mary, thus one of us as well became our redeemer and voluntarily took our sins on Him and died for us. Then God brought Him back to life.
Did you ever have some one step up and take your punishment for you? even in small things allow you to escape the consequences of your own bad deeds? Some men do very brave deeds in this world some have thrown themselves on a live grenade to save their fellows . many have risked much to save others. That is done out of love. personal risk means little when a loved one is in peril.
But Dave did not simply love his own family. Gods love had created in him a heart that was able to love people that invoke only fear and disgust in most of us.that kind of love that i wish i could have.
That was why he was able to go into New York and pray for those gang bangers, those hardened young men and women who looked on him as some sort of side show curiosity, a hick talking about a God they had never met who he said loved them. When he despaired he could open his heart to God and say ” God reach them for I cannot. and he prayed, and the spirit of God came upon them the peace that passed all understanding and saved them. Nicki Cruz wept with sadness yet joy because this gentle man who was yet unyielding in his upholding of Gods standard, his mentor was gone to be with Jesus.
And I do not feel a sense of loss because now I can go to the world challenge web site, tune into my friend and listen to him talk to me. when he says beloved, I know he is talking to me.

John…you touched something so deep in me. This is a beautiful tribute to a man I was honored to meet once, to follow for years…David lived faith before me…faith is something I struggled with, and yet, he lived it out so I could see the love of Messiah.

  • James Thompson

Thank you David for all you did for the kingdom of God……Thank you!

I live in northern New England (the frozen chosen) and have found it quite difficult to find leadership with the true love and devotion to Jesus Christ and Him alone, that David Wilkerson has modeled. In the many times I was rejected for speaking truth in what I believe was a loving way, in more churches than I’d like to think about…the messages from David Wilkerson, over the last 20 years, in Times Square Church, were what kept me encouraged and challenged to continue living for Him. It is with deep sorrow (for myself) that I say good bye to Rev. Wilkerson…but with great joy knowing that he will truly be receiving innumerable rewards in heaven! So good bye dear friend and I pray that Gwen would truly be blessed here on Earth for her faithfulness to Jesus. Thank you for all you’ve meant to me in my walk.

    Gracias David.

I went to TSC as a child and I always was excited to hear the good word from Pastor David, his words always touched my heart. He will truly be missed but it brings comfort and joy to know that he is with our mighty God.

  • Diana Tracy

My prayers go out to dave’s family. I’ve been reading his messages for 13 years. Never missed one, not one. He is one of the Giants, as how I saw him, and he falls under the same category as Billy Graham and Joyce Meyer. Never will there be another like him. He demonstrated the meaning of “Agape” love through his ministry. Which very few can do. He was an amazing, prophetic man for our time. He did finish the Race, and than he was called to go home to be with Jesus. To the Wilkerson family: please don’t stop doing God’s work. You gave us all hope, as did Dave. And that hope is Jesus!!

  • Jim Ruth

David Wilkerson was a Father figure and hero to many in the Christian world. He challenged us to live for Jesus. He is a spiritual father to countless numbers and his love, voice and wisdom will be missed. Our prayers are with his immediate family and his extended family which covers the world. Thank you David for you life.

I loved his walk, his faith, his teachings, and him as a pastor. I loved his up front approach, and his preaching of the uncompromised word of God. People do not forget Teen Challenge, Bklyn, NY his beginning. Though I’ve had no need of this place, I plan to honor Pastor David by contributing to his beginnings in NYC. God Bless his immediate family, siblings, neices and nephews. Pastor David was truly Christ’s servant who had a great heart of compassion esp. for the poor, and weak.

I first saw Pastor Wilkerson when I was in the youth group at church many years ago. He came to Houston with a not so well known artist named Dallas Holm. Over the years I have read his books & can’t tell you how many times his Pulpit Sermons had a word just for me. It shocked me to hear he was gone. We have lost a true prophet & man of God but another warrior has gone home. Until that great reunion day, David Wilkerson will truly be missed.

I want to say I pray for His healing and His angels to surround the Wilkerson family at this time. I am honored to have known David Wilkerson in videos, and monthy newsletters and in many teachings in my library.
I have always and will always respect him as a man of GOD who has taught me as a Father.. David Wilkerson has taught me to be in His daily bread every day and also to live the word. He taught me about looking at my heart and remembering how much GOD loves me. I am thankful to know that He lived the WORD. He has taught me to look at my heart and want have Gods heart in all areas. I know that He is with the LORD. I am thankful for being able to have a library filled with HIS TEACHINGS ON OBEDIENCE AND HIS LOVE FOR THE LORD AND HIS DOWNTRODDEN PEOPLE
May GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY AND COVER THEM WITH HIS BLOOD. IN JESUS NAME

Truly a great hero for God and mankind. A man along with his wife was a wonderful encouragement to us and always will be remembered as a humble servant reaching out to the cast aways of society, to see young men and women who were burdens to this society showed a love to them like Jesus would and saw the greatness in their hearts and because David you did it unto the least of these MY children, you have done it unto ME. Well done My true and faithful servant, come into the riches of My Kingdom and enjoy.
WELL DONE DAVID, WE WILL SEE YOU IN GLORY, COUNT ON IT!

  • David Paal

Since 1987, I have found David Wilkerson to be one of only a select few voices in the Church that I could trust. That is a strong statement, and one that I’m rather embarrassed to make. The modern-day church has become so polluted with mixture and idolatry, self-seeking boasters of His presence, that I was generally repulsed and stayed away for years. All I ever wanted was a pure Word from God, delivered from an example of holiness and righteousness, who was broken before men. May the world one day have to deal with men and women like this once again; wholly devoted to Christ’s sufferings and given to healing the wounds of the afflicted. David Wilkerson was such a chosen vessel, filled with the Holy Spirit, to be one of the forerunners of the last great in-gathering of souls in this age. During my own struggles and trials with the flesh, it was the searing, convicting, yet loving Word of God that Wilkerson spoke into my life that drove me to repent. God has always head His servants the prophets, in every age, deliver to the church this kind of Word. May we see the Holy Spirit enable, within each of us, a consuming love of God to bring us all to the place of readiness and completeness in Him before His return. I don’t think any of us who have listened to David Wilkerson for any length of time will remain the same. His voice will continue to cry out and challenge all of us to remain faithful, to remain watchful, as the Lord readies His bride. I am deeply saddened by losing this man, but with every ending there is a new beginning. Our sorrow will turn to joy. But for now, I just want to thank God, the Wilkerson Family, and the TSC body, for sharing with us this servant of the Lord.

    • KIM

I totally agree with you! a good Godly word is hard to find!!! even though i live in the Northwest i always considered David Wilkerson as my pastor even when i refused to go to church’s, God used him to reach me and the sermons that i recieved always seemed to speak to my life i will miss him dearly,God gave him such insight and wisdom heaven is richer the earth pooer! in the presence of God is the fulfillment of joy that is the first thing i thought when i first heard the sad new’s of his passing and i cryed, he will be greatly missed until we met on heavens shore pastor David….

I am very blessed to have known Pops personally ever since I’ve been going to TSC with my daughter. You and Mom (Mother Gwen) have always been like our parents in the absence of our biological parents around us. We truly miss u Pops but very happy that u are now in a better place now. I pray that God will let u become a wonderful Guardian Angel to help watch over so many people in this wicked world. Pops, I was expecting to share my deliverance with u and thank u ’cause if the Lord did not lead me to TSC, I could probably be dead in the bondage I’ve been in for over 40 years of my still young life. Pops, I really miss u very dearly and will continue to pray to have the courage to walk in the path of righteousness as long as the Good Lord allows me to. Thank u for being an Angel, Rest in Perfect Peace.

How can anyone stand in the presences of greatness and have words enough to describe a life spent on the LORD Jesus Christ. A Heart full of compassion, a heart and mind totally yielded to the sound of the Savior heart beat. Pastor David Wilkerson touched my life so deeply, half way across the world, in lonely room filled with deep sorrow in my heart, and utterly confused mind, a friend gave me a printed sermon by my beloved father of the Faith. “A Surrendered Life” this word untangled all the lies of hell over my mind. Since 2003 I have followed his life closely. Ps David and his son Garry came to Melbourne Australia, I attended his conference, and what I saw and heard impacted my life, even more. I saw the face of Grace and Mercy, when I looked at him; I saw this aura that encompassed him from head to toes. He shined the LOVE OF HIS MASTER AND LORD. Through this vessel of gold that the LORD fashioned for His glory, this father of the Faith, reached me and restored the TRUTH of what a servant and Friend of the LORD JESUS CHRIST should look like and speak. I trusted him, I trusted the word his spoke, I was more than ready to open my heart and allow GOD to go down deep and refashion me from the inside out. ‘God Almighty touches our lives through clean vessels. ‘Father of the Faith, David Wilkerson, I have mourned him the past few days and wept over him deeply- he is worthy to be mourned, the earth has been blessed by a saint like David Wilkerson. And i rejoiced in his life, and no-one is perfect on the earth, but he did come very close to perfection, “a True Friend of the Heavenly Bridegroom. This Father of the Faith was never ashamed to preach the CROSS and the POWER of the Cross to Save – and the Power of the Precious Blood of JESUS to cleanse and make new.
He was never ashamed to speak the Name of JESUS CHRIST, and I loved that. October 2009, the LORD spoke a word to my heart; He spoke of a journey of Faith to NYC. The LORD said, “I am taking you to see My house in the midst of chaos to a people that I have established through the tears of a simple man that cried and I heard his plea for the lost souls of the young ones.” “Time Square Church New York” I made the journey, and I was truly blessed. I had the awesome privilege to sit in front of my beloved sister Gwen, as I richly drank from the fountain of living water. Ps David spoke about “Mans Hour of Darkness is God’s Hour of Power. Times Square Church was birthed through his faithful tears, and it is the LORD’S desire to continue until He return for us all. Father of the Faith I mourn, and yet I rejoice in you ‘a life well spent – Well Done! My love and deep respect I give to the entire Wilkerson family, and friends, in truth, he was faithful to his calling to this generation. GOD is Proud of him. And what he had sown in tears…..multitudes are in the kingdom, because he said yes LORD.

I watched the cross and the switchblade as a young girl and it GREATLY impacted me from that moment on. David Wilkerson has inspired me all my life. I watched teh movie again with my husband last year and I followed David’s daily blog posts which I will GREATLY miss! What a mighty man of God! Living to serve and to feed the lost and to encourage other believers onward in their faith. What a legacy and now he is dancing with Jesus!! Can’t wait to meet him in person someday! Many blessings to his family as they mourn him here.

I felt such sadness when I heard of Pastor Wilkerson’s death, but such joy as I thought of his “going home”! I attended a crusade of his years ago in Wausau, WI and loved him always. I have received and saved his newsletters over the years and was always blessed and excited when they arrived in the mail.I often shared them with family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with his dear wife and children and all his family. He will be so missed – because he was who he was, but also because he was so used of God and spoke truth openly and unashamedly. I will love to meet him in heaven:)

  • Barbara

There is a scripture in the Bible that says about Christians: “who are kept by the power of God.” Reverend Wilkerson, NO DOUBT, was kept by the power of God on that Texas road:
God was responsible to take care of his servant. I am certain he did though he allowed him to die as he did.
Whatever may have failed, be it the preacher’s heart failed. Or he dozed off (he was less than 2 months away from being 80)or he was just too old to be driving. Eighty is not young. God was there! God was responsible to take care of Reverend Wilkerson in every way. I am sure God did not fail to keep his servant from sin, but gave him victory in the hour of his home-going!
God is able to keep that which Reverend Wilkerson committed to him which was his soul and his very life and ministry.
I can’t see anything on that Texas road that happened. I wasn’t there, but I know for a fact that God was there with Reverend Wilkerson and called him to himself.
Thank you Jesus for The preacher’s ministry and may what he left behind be used for Your glory.

Dear Barbara, I recall the verse Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saint.
In 2008 I was in a terrible situation when I was uncertain of my survival. I just humble myself before the Lord and cried out to Him. I believe was kept by the power of God and I live now in
good health. I read The cross and the Switchblade as a teenager now I am 62 years old
and i am still reading David’s written devotions everyday and listen to the sermons every now and then. The River of Life helped me greatly on Ezekiel 47. I am very thankful for his life I hope I can be of good to others who come across me because of God working in my life.

Along with all the others I am thankful to have been blessed by David Wilkersons ministry. His ministry molded my Christian life forty years ago. I will ever be greatful. All through the years since, the newsletters and now the internet devotions have brought encouragement and insight into Gods word. Only eternity will reveal the far reaching effects of the life of David Wilkerson. Our Love and prayers are with his wife Gwen and the family and body of Christ, who have loved this man of God.

Pastor Wilkerson was a beautiful person with a beautiful message to the whole world. I am from Sri Lanka and as a teenager, was blessed by his book “The cross and the switchblade” and more recently, through his newsletters and online video messages. God is holy, holy and holy. Pastor Wilkerson’s life was a testimony of God’s holiness. Praise be to God!

  • Mandy Koziol

I would to add another comment about Pastor David Wilkerson. I started to read pastor David’s messages many years ago, each one spoke what GOD was wanting me to hear. I could not bear to throw them away, so I now have two folders full of them, as I know I can read and re-read them, and share them with others. I know pastor David has left us men and women who will continue the work GOD started with him.

My dad was a Junkie, an alcoholic, and a street gang member. He ran the streets of Brooklyn while my grandparents prayed for his Salvation. Some time after Nicky Cruz got saved and delivered… my dad got hooked up with Teen Challenge. Brother Wilkerson and Nicky ministered to him, time and time again. He gave his life to the Lord, but the streets and drugs kept pulling him back. Finally.. He knelt with Nicky one last time…. gave his Life wholly over to the Lord, and David sent Dad to St. Louis, where another Teen Challenge was in operation. The idea was to get my dad away from the all too familiar streets of his youth. It worked! Dad lived the rest of his life for Jesus, met my Mother there.. at Teen Challenge, and had myself and my 3 siblings. Dad died 10 years ago, from Hepatitis that he aquired as a Junkie, all those years ago. Thanks to Bro. Wilkerson being willing and obedient, I am here today! Serving the Most High God! My siblings and I, and all of the Grandchildren, owe our very existence to this obedience! Glory to God.

  • Fabi Aragon

I am a 27 year old from Costa Rica. I am one of the many life’s this man of God has touched. Though I never met him or saw him in person he has impacted my walk with Christ unlike any other through his messages, writings and daily devotionals. We have lost a GREAT man of God among us. One of the few and genuine. I hope we can live a life to resemble Jesus the way he did. A simple message in the midst of such decay in human values and morals. Imagine the impact we would cause! So I challenge all who read this, all who have been touched by David’s testimony to not be afraid to live radically for Christ!

David Wilkerson was truly a man of God. Whatever he preached he would say he is also preaching it to himself. He was a very humble and God fearing man. He will be sorely missed. I pray for his wife Gwen that there will be a physical and emotional healing within her. I know when he entered the gates of Heaven, Jesus must have said, “Well done, good and faithful servant”!

I have heard, seen and known this great man of God for many years. As a missionary around the world my husband, children and I have shown the cross and the switch blade movie to thousands of people around the world, specially in Mexico and Spanish speaking nations and great have been the harvest.
Not only the preaching of the cross was uncompromised by Pastor David Wilkerson, but His remarkable obedience of the seeds he planted goes on. Our condolences to the family. Maria and Dave Skinner

In the early 1970s a movie appeared on the shores of Singapore and as a youth leader I was moved to tears each time I watched the movie “The Cross and the Switchblade.” In my youthful enthusiasm I loaned the movie and began travelling all over youths groups, army camps and churches screening the 18mm film lugging a movie projector in my car. It was how I learned about Teen Challenge. Years later in 1984, I became the Executive Director of Teen Challenge (Singapore) for a total of 21 years. I am currently the Vice-President of Teen Challenge Singapore and an active Prison Counsellor. The life and lifestyle of David Wilkerson was always a personal challenge to me. I considered him my “spiritual grandfather” in ministry. It was a joy to personally meet Brother Dave in Rehrersburg, Pennsylvania in the year 2000. Thank you, Brother Dave for being an inspiration in my life and in the life of many former drug addicts, gang members, and ex-convicts who are now serving the Lord as pastors, teachers, evangelists and leaders in the Church in Singapore. Brother Dave, for all of us in Singapore…you are a “A Man of Significance.” All glory to God!

I heard David give the vision at The Lutheran Charismatic
convention perhaps 1975/6 of which the book “racing towards judgement” has been quite true in David’s prophecy.
Along with Derek Prince, I shall miss these great men of God. For whatever reason the book has been unavailable and
much controversary perhaps over the catholic church in the vision may have been the reason it was not for sale.
Nonetheless, much of the vision is now history and our nation is in dire need of it’s founding faith, repentance so God can once again bless out country.

Brother David was used of G-d to touch my life. I called him my personal prophet through I never met him personally. He stepped into my life when my father went to be with the L-rd on April 27th, 1985. Amazingly these G-d fearing men who loved Jesus and always made him the lover of their soul have impacted my life. And G-d calls them home on the same day 26 years later. Brother David alway had a fatherly timely word. Whatever I was going through G-d used him in the monthly newsletter to speak to my heart, soul and mind. I couldn’t wait to receive the mail to see what G-d had to say to me. Whether it was a word of encouragement or correction it was always bathe in love and timely. He will be missed.
Thank you, my Father in heaven for once again showing me your Keeping Power through the life of David. RUTH.

My wife and i lived in NYC for over 25years and as strange as it sounds never heard of Time Square Church. We moved to pennsylvania and that is when we started reading brother Wilkersons books. The words could have been headlines from a present day news paper. My wife knew of David from her youth in watching the movie Cross and the switchblade but i had never heard or read any of his God inspired work. When one day i came across the sermon Counterfit Spirituality and boy did it shake up my world and my wife as well. It made us hungry for a style of preaching that you don’t hear in the pulpit anymore Truth!! God has used David Wilkerson to remove the scales from our eyes to seek holiness for God is holy, to love as Jesus loves. David was so transparent that it seemed to good to be true, and the thing was it was true his obedience, compassion, passion, honesty and love for our Lord Jesus was and is an amazing thing to be hold. a man that we will cherish till we see him again in glory. A man that God used for his glory and blessed us with his many works of obedience. Jesus i thank you for David Wilkerson, Lord you called him home but his life is a testiment to your love, holiness, compassion and the awsomness of what a great and mighty God you are!!! We send our prayers and
love to the whole Wilkerson Family and to the whole body at TSC and to the whole body of Christ, we will continue to pray for you and pray for us also. All glory be to God in the Highest!!!

Gracias David por ser un instrumento ú

We love you dear David and only ask our mutual friend and Lord Jesus to give you a big hug for us now that your well fought fight is over for you here as we all now humbly take the banner of praise and peace to pass along to a new generation of saved souls and sick souls! By the way David, how’s the new house?

David Wilkerson was truly a great man of God and he will be greatly missed. I have enjoyed the ministry of his daily devotions in my email. Many of them came at just the right time with words of encouragement just when I needed them. I have always had great respect for this man of God the way he lived a life of integrity and really show our Lord Jesus to so many people. I rejoice that he is at rest with the Lord now and my prayer for his family is that God would give them the comfort, peace, and strength they need to get through these next difficult days…even though they have the peace of knowing he is with the Lord it is still a very difficult time to adjust to the loss of a loved one. God bless each one.
    Love in Christ

Odszedł do Domu.
    Dziękuję za wszystko.

The earth has lost such a great devoted person of God and Heaven has gained a very special man of God. Words can’t say enough about what a fine man of god he really was. He will be truly missed by all that knew him and his works. We love Bro. Wilkerson.

I have known of Pastor David for years; he was of the same denomination as I was. He visited my church many years ago and the place was packed. His preaching was so anointed and many souls found Christ that night. I believe he was a prophet of our day. He has gone home for his reward.
    Glory to God.

Have followed Dave Wilkerson’s ministry and career since grade school, since reading “The Cross & the Switchblade”. He and Billy Graham are the two Pastor/Evangelists who have had the greatest impact on my life.
I am going to miss Him, his serious sermons which always lead a person to be serious with God, repent of sin.
Our family on my mother’s side was and is very Pentecostal; and I hope both Dave’s church TSC continues, and Teen Challenge.

    Sincerely,

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Pastor David and his family for being such a great example in my life. If I am the person I am today is due to Pastor David who always pushed me to live a life of holiness through his preachings/sermons. You have run the race and impacted my life in an incredible way and I will never forget what you did for my life. ( Pastor Dave)- God used you to give me hope and purpose in my life. Thank You very much and May you rest in peace.I love you and your family.

He ran the race and finished the course that God had for him and he completed the task God had before him. He made an effect more than many lives. Being that he had sympathy and great compation, and was humble, God used him. No fancy lingo no elequence of bibical lingo just plain burning love. God bless him and his family. Love and hope in Jesus. Angela

Thank you David Wilkerson for your ministry to the world. In Detroit Michigan out of Revival Tabernacle we would show the movie the cross and the switch blade in the run down crack infested hotel and motel lobbies. After the movie the gospel would be preached and people would respond to the message. May God’s peace rest on the family and friends.

My heart was so broken when I heard about David Wilkerson, and yet Praised the Lord because he is with his Father in Heaven.
He did some great and wonderful things, I am so glad his ministry will go on. I get his news letter every month and so very much enjoy it.
Bless all of you. Will be praying for Davids Wife Gwen.

A man who will be greatly missed, His impact on the world overthe last 50 years has been immense. On a day when so many people were hooked on watching a royal wedding his passing almost went unnoticed yet his impression and influence will be far greater. God blessed David as he followed his call. We will probably never know how many people have been directly and indirectly saved through his obedient service to the Lord.

  • jewel Wilkerson

I am deeply blessed for the privilege, 12 years ago, to have him as my pastor and to be under his ministry, as a member of the choir and medical team. He was such a true man of God and never ceased to inspire me every time he preached. Because of his life and powerful preaching, I repented from backsliding. I have great respect for Pastor Dave. Just his presence alone reflected Jesus to me. I could really tell that he was a man who always seeks the heart of God and was filled with the Holy Spirit. My family were deeply touched every time we watched The Cross And The Switchblade. Pastor Dave was my husband’s favorite preacher, because of his life and no-nonsense preaching. I am so greatful that I was able to attend his funeral in Tyler. I really miss him and am so saddened by his passing. And, I am looking forward to seeing him again.

I was at one of those youth rallies long ago and it had an effect on my life. To this day we read all of David Wilkerson’s newsletters and they’ve always been right on time and right on the money. He always brought the word of God right in season. My heart goes out to his family but I’m sure he will receive that crown of righteousness laid up for him. He was a great man of God and we will miss him but are thankful for him bringing the uncompromising word for 51 years. Thank you.

I was around 15 years old when I heard David Wilkerson speak in Charlotte, NC. I am now 62, and I have followed his ministry ever since, and loved him dearly. Truly, he was a man of God, fearless in preaching the truth of the gospel in word and in deed. In the past several years I was privileged to visit New York City and attend Times Square Church on two occasions. Both times Pastor David was preaching. I felt like the Lord had given me a special gift to be able to hear this man preach God’s Word. While there is great sorrow here for our loss, there is awesome rejoicing in Heaven as Pastor Wilkerson has been welcomed into the arms of Jesus, the Lord he loved and served. My prayers are with this precious family.

David, I came in to work everyday and read your devotionals, that started my day with a positive outlook. I visited Time Square Church once with my dear friend Matthew, and it was there where I got my first Bible. I have to say that the new hit me hard and started to weep, but I know for sure, through your words that you are in a much better place. I will continue to read the devotionals and apply to my every day life. I know that your son Gary will carry the legacy.

I cannot believe that our beloved Pastor is gone. I cannot understand what happened, and I yearn for answers. Many a night I could not sleep trying to figure out why that happened. I know I cannot question God, but I am blessed by the church he founded and know that he is definitely with the Lord Jesus and he is blessed wherever he is. I love you Pastor Wilkerson. For a girl from the Caribbean, you established a church that reached my heart from day one I visited and I continue to love Time Square Church and everyone that is part of that foundation. You will truly be missed. You have heart of Gold!…Love you!

Meu nome é Rafael Matos, sou brasileiro e moro na cidade de São Paulo. Quero dizer que é com grande pesar que escrevo isso, quando tudo ia mal onde iria desistir, quando todos me abandonaram. Peguei estudos e mensagens do Pr. David Wilkerson e Deus operou, e renovou a esperança. Trazendo a liberdade de Jesus. Eu louvo a Deus pela vida e ministério do Pr. David Wilkerson, pois tenho certeza que ele fez aquilo que o Senhor o tinha chamado. Que Deus guarde e console a sua filha.

When I was eleven I read The Cross and the Switchblade. I didn’t understand it but I knew that this was the truth and one day I thought I would have to go to New York to find these people. Years later, having forgotten, I was in college having fun and partying when some friends brought a girl to my dorm that had been sharing the gospel with them. They were amused by her and thought I could laugh with them. When she started to speak I remembered the book and knew she was talking just like the book. I practically grabbed her, I couldn’t get enough. I wanted to hear more and more. I prayed that night with her to let God into my life and follow Him, and bought a Bible the next day. Without the seed of The Cross and the Switchblade, I too may have laughed at her. God had already touched me years before. I didn’t know that Christians were all around me. They never told me about Christ, but David Wilkerson did and he has inspired me through his messages ever since. I always wanted to meet him, and I know I still will. Looking toward that day!

  • Kevin

The first time I heard you preach was about 27 years ago when I attended a Christian College and in those 2 services there was hardly a dry eye with many people that were weeping at the alters. Little did I know shortly after graduating God would call me to reach out to drug addicts in another country and then serve in a ministry for twenty years that was birthed out of your ministry. I am grateful for your years of faithfulness, holiness, integrity and most importantly your life of prayer which I identify as something that is often neglected by so many.

I am confident that your Christ-like witness you have demonstrated will continue to live on in the hearts of those you have impacted for many future generations. Now that you are “Present with the Lord” you have simply passed the batton to those of us remaining on this earth to run the race!

  • Nita

David Wilkerson visited our high school in 1969. That night I was forever changed. He became my mentor and continues to be. I read and reread his books for they greatly bless me and continue to inspire me to look to Christ as our only answer.

I received his newsletters from the time I was saved, 22 yrs. ago. He was truly a man after God’s heart, and I had a deep respect for him because of his passionate preaching & love for Jesus. The Lord always spoke to me through him. I appreciate that he never compromised the word of God. I was blessed to attend Times Square Church on 2 trips to NY, which was filled with the presence of God. We will miss you David Wilkerson, but will see you soon!!

I’ve always anticipated receiving my newsletter from World Challenge. It got me through my darkest times. Pastor Wilkerson will be missed the world over. Thank-you for your faithful to God.

I have fond memories of Pastor Wilkerson. When I was homeless in New York City, I found Times Square Church, there I found Pastor Wilkerson.
His message lives on, his legacy sure as even now though his ministry and message, people still come to christ.
My prayer is that his legacy lives on in each heart. If it were not for Pastor Wilkerson I would not be where I am today. Working as a Pastor now, Television program producer that gives voice to those who do not have it. Mr.Wilkerson was a dynamic man who helped me change my life to I could give back. May God bless him as he rest before God’s throne

David Wilkerson was one of the largest Christian personalities of our time. His preaching and compassion for the weakest will never be forgotten. His fervent love for Jesus is that which featured David Wilkerson and his books and teachings have made an impression on crowds of people. I am among those who met the love of God through his books and preaching, and even though I never heard him “live” so it feels like having lost a close friend. David is now gone ahead of us to God, but one day not too long, we will gather all believers before God’s throne and worship sing our praise to our beloved savior Jesus Christ.

  • Amy Guyer

I saw Pastor David during a difficult time in my life.
    His eyes were like fire.
He reassured me I do belong to the Lord Jesus Christ and that he would take care of me.
That was forty years ago, and I still hold on to that truth today!
I was sad to know he is no longer with us but rejoicing to know he is home at last.

  • Sydney Watson

I read The Cross and the Switchblade while in junior high and have reread it since. It has always touched my heart to love like David Wilkerson did. It has motivated me to love the unlovely. David Wilkerson’s monthly newsletters would always arrive in our PO Box just in time for whatever word we needed from the Lord. They were always so “right on” to whatever situation we would find ourselves in, and I never ONCE had a check in my spirit for anything he was saying. My spirit always totally agreed with whatever he was warning us about or whatever exhortation he gave in his newsletters. I have volumes of them. I started a notebook years ago with his newsletters. I cherish them and will continue to reread them upon the Spirit’s prompting. If ever there was a true prophet of God in our times, it was David Wilkerson. Now with him gone, I’m not sure if there is someone as bold to tell us the truth. I pray his family will continue his great legacy and I know that not only he, but also his family gives God all the glory. I mourn your loss and mine, but am so thrilled he is in the Lord’s presence forevermore.

My heart goes to Pastor Wilkerson’s family, Pastor Carter Conlon,World Challenge and TSCNY family. Pastor David Wilkerson shall truly be missed. He walked in integrity, he was big on repentance, holiness, winning souls, and had such an incredible amount of love for people. I felt he gave so much in his lifetime, yet received little back in this life, but I guess that is what giving is all about. That was and is the way of Christ, our example.

Though deeply saddened by his death beyond words, I am at least relieved knowing he is with our Abba – Father and our Lord Jesus, and probably heard the words, “Well done My good and faithful servant!” This however, does not lessen the pain and the void he has left behind in many hearts and lives. I have spiritually drawn from both Pastor Wilkerson and Pastor Carter Conlon in recent years even though I am several miles apart – on the west coast – and I never got a chance to say thank you to both of them, and now, I will never get the chance to thank you Pastor David Wilkerson. When I left my full time employment as an Engineer a few years ago for full-time ministry, it was encouraging for me to find men of God actually preaching the uncompromising gospel with sincerity, boldness, real anointing by the Spirit of truth, and it was NOT for money, but for souls, truth, righteousness, and holiness. They were carrying the same sound; it is the sound of the Spirit. They gave me hope for the church. They made me realize I was not alone. Pastor Carter Conlon always came with a timely word of direction and encouragement, and Pastor Wilkerson always came with a word that spoke right into my situation. It was encouraging beyond words.

Pastor David Wilkerson’s faith in the Lord was very encouraging to me as I started to face challenges that I believe were a part of God’s preparation for my life for His purpose. Pastor David Wilkerson inspired me to keep on persevering through his daily devotions that addressed his own challenges, but spoke right into my situation. There were times that I asked when he (Pastor Wilkerson) would get a break? He had such unwavering faith. Today, I weep and still mourn the departure of a man of God I never met in person.

Pastor Wilkerson shall look down from heaven with a smile as the Lord “Divinely Heals” his wife and grandson, for surely nothing is impossible for the Lord God Almighty. Pastor Wilkerson went through a lot, but kept believing and trusting our Lord. I shall continue to walk in that level of faith imparted into my life by the Lord, and reinforced by the Preaching of Pastor Wilkerson and Pastor Conlon, knowing and believing, what did not materialize in Pastor Wilkerson’s lifetime, shall surely come to pass at his death. That is my hearts desire and prayer to the Lord for Pastor Wilkerson’s family, divine intervention and healing through the power and blood of Jesus for all.

Prophet David Wilkerson was a prophet to America. He did not tell this nation what it wanted to hear, he spoke what the Lord revealed to him. He preached with boldness and passion from the heart of God, yet he was very compassionate. A weeping prophet, he was!

I truly believe the rest of his prophecies on America shall also be fulfilled in the VERY NEAR future if the church of America at large does not repent from its waywardness and complacency, so that this country (America can turn back to God as a nation). The state of this nation is a reflection of the state of the church of America. Just as many of us were greatly shaken and saddened by his sudden death (the death of a great prophet of God), so shall this nation be greatly shaken, and saddened by the inevitable earthquake predicted by Prophet Wilkerson and other prophets if we do not return to the Lord wholeheartedly.

Pastor David Wilkerson and his family shall continually be in my prayers. I owe that to Prophet Wilkerson because I never got the opportunity to thank him for the impartation, and the encouragement over the years through his daily devotions and the condensed video on “anguish” and “when the church wakes up.” An unedited drafted letter to him written last year still sits in the drafted folder of my email, and for this, I shall hold his family in my prayers daily as a thank you to him.
Lord, I thank you for the life of Prophet David Wilkerson.

Many of us have lost a spiritual mentor.
This nation has lost one of the true voices of God.
We shall certainly continue where he ended off.

    Farewell Man of God!
    Farewell Pastor David Wilkerson!
Farewell Prophet of God and mentor to leaders!
    Truly, you demonstrated Christ!

Until such time, Farewell Prophet David Wilkerson, I know you are resting peacefully in our Lord’s arms!

    Farewell!

Man where can I start, I have had a heavy heart for the last few days… I loved this man, he had a big impact in my life in so many ways… I was crying out to God for some witnesses of God that would be ture to his word in these last days, a pastor that stood for the word of God and was not affaid to do so. I was under so many pastors that never really knew who Jesus really was.. and I was looking for a real man of God, that just wanted to know and be just like Jesus Christ. Pastor David truely was that Man of God bought into my life and I made him my Pastor, leader and Friend.. I thank God he heard me when I was crying out daily for a true wittness and he not only heard me but, hundreds of thousands of other that did too… he just wanted to be a simple man that loved Jesus to the fillest.. and he did, right to the very end. He will always be remembered for doing so, not only for me, but millions of others like me.. Praise God! for God fearing Men, like Pastor David Wilkerson… Amen … bkp

Being the founding Pastor of my home church: Time Square Church, David Wilkerson has been a bleesing to my life as well as the life of thounsands of people!
I was born and brough up as a muslim in Algeria, North Africa. I moved to New York in 1996 and I was introduce to TSC in 1997. I got saved in 2001 in TSC, and it has been my home church since! I will be always gratfull to Pastor Wilkerson for founding TSC!!!

I agree with all of the comments that have been written, and I will continue to pray for Pastor Dave’s family. My prayer is that each live that Pastor touched, will continue to press to be all that we have gleemed from his life, and become true saints as he was.

I am so grateful to God for the life and ministry of David Wilkerson. What a legacy of blessing he has left in the continuing global ministry of Teen Challenge! What a welcome he received from those who had found Christ through his ministry and had gone to glory ahead of him!

  • Elizabeth Gilbert

This is a shock! Because I don’t watch TV news all the time, I probably missed the announcement of Mr. W’s “passing into glory”. My parents supported his ministry for decades; father has gone on to glory, and mother at 92 still supports his ministry and receives Mr. Wilkerson’s Pulpit Newsletters … which are passed down to me, and I “verbally” share them with others. So obvious was the Holy Spirit’s anointing in those writings. Bold, truthful, profound, insightful, warning, Warning, WARNING!!!Totally unafraid to tell it like it is,in love. I keep those newsletters in a binder, and they are well underlined and bolded. I pray that those who carry this man’s mantel may be likewise emboldened to tell it like it is, for THUS SAITH THE LORD! Thank you for sharing this tribute. May many who view it come under divine conviction about the direction of their lives. And all of fellow believers, pray for repentance … in our own lives, family lives, in our cities, our nation … that a desire for Godly righteousness may again surface within individuals, the church, governments at all levels. Let us claim this land for the Lord God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. AMEN!

What a life lived to the fullest! I received my first newsletter from Pastor Wilkerson in the 70′s and it changed my life. The name of that article was called “The harness of the horses”. Well, I must say that I’d be a lier if I said I was not left confused and sad after hearing what happened to Pastor Dave. I never imagined that he would die like that. I really am sorry that happened to him. However, I am glad to know that he is with the risen Lord Jesus Christ. When Pastor Dave preached, I believed that he really believed in God and his precepts. I believe that he really cared for lost souls and just like God, did not want any to perish. I’m grateful to God for every encouraging word he spoke to lead people in the way of truth. I have no doubt that God has said to Pastor Dave “well done my good and faithful servant.”

  • Linda Westerfeld

As God brought me to a deeper, more surrendered position in Him, I would turn to David’s teaching and preaching to encourage me, convict me, and bring me to repentance when needed. These regular checkups were vital to my spiritual well being, integrity and honesty with myself, warfare with my sin nature, and the pricking of my conscience. And resulted in surrender, and confession, and repentance.

When his monthly news letter would come, I would drop everything and pour over it. In an unbelievable, uncanny way – He always was on target with what God was telling me, too!

I will miss his presence here on earth, but I find myself laughing several times of day as I think of him in Heaven, with his God and Savior, and the loved ones and friends who have proceeded him, and with the wonder and glory of Heaven.

He fought a great fight against satan, and ran the race regardless of all the fiery darts that came his way, and now he is enjoying his reward!

    God bless his family!

David was and still is a hero and father in the faith for me. The Holy Spirit through David has been an anchor in my walk with Jesus since 1989. His newsletter messages were always timely for me and sometimes others I shared with. He will be greatly missed! I believe that behind every great man is a great woman, so my love and condolences go out to Mrs Gwen Wilkerson. Thanks for your love and devotion to David and utimately Jesus. It really was because of Gwen that I came to the Lord. In the Cross and the Switch Blade, she more or less rebuked David for his lack of faith regarding no money for the teen center and that David should devote himself first to the center and have faith in Gods provisions for that center. I had realized I needed to do the same for my life and surrendered to the center of Jesus Christ. My Teen Challenge program was miraculous and instantaneous and I’ve been free from drugs and alcohol ever since thanks to the vision and obedience of David and Gwen.

I was impacted in 1970 in Palmerston North New Zealand by an arm of Teen Challenge, started by by Ken Wright and a number of people whose hearts were, for the youth. I never met Pastor Dave , but read so many of the books and teachings he produced in the 70′s….. This great General of God cut a path that many have followed, in seeking to reach lost sould, broken hearts and lives, destroyed by drugs violence sex and so many other things. He was a voice for the remnant Church, and his heart to see healing and restoration in ministers lives will echo for years to come. I look forward to the day when I can meet and thank Pastor Dave, and indeed, the many who have gone on before. To the family, my heart is with you during this time. Bless you all in Jesus.

    I am from Ethiopia.
I was shocked when I have learned the death of such a hero of the faith at such a time as this; a time the kingdom of God needs more of his types. I felt like the Israelites felt when their hero Moses died at the door of Canaan. For more than ten years I was blessed By David’s ministry.
Thank you for your life that you shared with me and the world

David Wilkerson a great man of God and a prophet in our time, was a man I met at Camp Champion in upstate New York in 1983. I travelled overseas from Lebanon to join Teen Challange and went through the crisis center in Brooklyn and later to Camp Champion where he came to minister and I’ll never forget the zeal, passion and the love he had for Jesus. I also can never get away from what God did in my own heart through brother Dave’s ministry. That was a lankmark year in my life where I was set free, discipled, taught in the word and worshiped in the Spirit. Praise God for David Wilkerson’s life and ministry

My name is Federico. I live in a small town named Campofranco, in Sicily, Italy. Wednesday 27 April, we have losted the major spiritual father of mondial Church, but will remain to us his sermons and his written. I’m very sad for brother Wilkerson’s death, a great God’s man. I’m very sad above all for the way of his death: for a stradal accident. I’m don’t believe still that he is really dead. But, also for the way of his death is happened he will be remembered. I believe that own Wednesday afternoon (in Italy), perhaps in the same moment when David Wilkerson died, I reflected on the person that could replace worthily David Wilkerson in the mondial Church. Coincidense? And, also now, I ask myself: will be there other God’s ministries as him in this and, if the Lord don’t will returns before, in the future generations? I says it not only to reference to his deep and special anointing in his sermons and books but also for his sincerity and spiritual opening. I have spent years to read his sermons and books. They have enriched my spiritual life. His sermons and books have revolutionize my life. I don’t know if still will exist preacher as him and with a story as his. He will miss to me and he will miss to all world Church: a God’s man that has left to us in inheritance a spiritual impact and a example like that very strong. (Federico Scifo, Sicily, Italy)
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.” (Hebrews 13:7)

I read Brother Wilkerson’s book “Hungry for more of Jesus” 16 years ago. When I read the last page, something happened to me that I had never experienced before. I was sitting in my living room watching the TV (I’m not big on watching TV)when I heard a voice say to me.”Turn the TV off and I will move in your life like never before. The voice was very plain and audible.I didn’t hesitate. I reached for the remote and turned it off immediately. From that moment on I had a very big desire to,not just read God’s word but devour it. I picked up my bible one morning around 10:00. It was as if the word of God was new and so revealing. I couldn’t put it down. Before I knew it my son was getting off the bus in front of the house. I realized at that moment I had been reading the Bible for more than 6 hours! This changed my faith in God and changed my prayer life. I began to spend 2 and 3 hours every night in prayer.Nothing interrupted my prayer time. I grew so close to God. I’m so thankful for an ordinary man that obeyed God and walked close to him. It was through Brother Wilkerson’s obedience that I and others have drawn close to God. The world lost a wonderful hero of faith but not without leaving behind a lot of “little David Wilkerson’s”. I am so sad to lose him but thankful for what he left behind.

38 years ago God lead me to Pastor David Wilkerson’s book, “The Vision”; I believed its message immediately. I have serval of Pastor Wilkerson’s books and I have been helped spiritually by all of them. Pastor Wilkerson is a tried and true bondservant of Jesus Christ; he loved the lost without compromising the Word of God. He and his faithful wife are the greatest man and woman of God in our generation. I love them deeply and have prayed for them often. I think almost everyday since he went home to heaven for his reward that he is praising the Lord and enjoying the magnificent sights of heaven. Also now he is reunited with his family what a wonderful meeting at the gates of heaven. I am determined to serve God and do my best to honor God in the few days we have left. Thank you Pastor Wilkerson for your lasting legency for Jesus Christ. Love to all the family in Jesus

As I sit here reading the heartfelt messages by those so profoundly affected by David Wilkerson’s ministry, I am continually wiping away the tears. I, too, have been ministered to by this man of God. I have followed Pastor David’s work since I was a young man. I am now 69. When I heard of the tragic accident my heart, as well as my eyes, wept. But, I know he is with the Lord. Praise God!! Pastor Dave was the only minister I had any knowledge of that never compromised the Word of God. And I am well assured that he taught Gary the same fearless devotion.

My wife and I are praying for a quick and complete recovery for Gwen. She has been through so much, but the Lord has used her to encourage so many people. There is no end in sight to the things I can say about the way the Lord has used the Wilkerson family to bless and challenge the world. Thank you Lord for David Wilkerson, and bless mightily his family and the work he left behind.

How we all shall miss Brother Wilkerson! His newsletters were so timely and his support unfailing. How many times I meant to write and tell him how much he had blessed my life. Never could seem to get around to it and now that time has passed. I know he knows and was encouraged to continue on and I am so thankful he did. Brother Wilkerson taught me that God could use anyone even if they believed they had no talents or gifts. Anyone can share the good news of the gospel with anyone and it will change the world. I know he will hear Jesus say, “well done!” I rejoice with his family that we knew him for a time and I pray the Holy Spirit will comfort his family as only the Holy Spirit can. To God be the glory! Good bye my brother in Christ. Until we see you again-Love the Mitchell Family

The impact David Wilkerson has had on my life cannot be adequately expressed with words. He was to me, a voice the Lord faithfully used to bring truth, freedom and passion to the truths of scripture.
I will miss David with so much of my heart. He has been a spiritual father to me, as I know he has been to so many others. My heart rejoices in the fact that one day soon I will get to hug him and tell him all that the lord used his faithfulness to accomplish in my life. After my Lord Jesus Christ, he is the one human I will run to meet!!
To Gwen and the other children & grandchildren, you are in my prayers! You were so very precious to David, and you are precious to our Hevenly Father. May He uphold and keep you through this time. We love you all.

Pastor Wilkerson was a much needed voice who gave a message people NEEDED to hear, and sometimes that’s not always what they WANT to hear, but it was the truth, and we need that more than ever.

Whenever I despaired over my faith and walk, his sermons and devotions always came at JUST the right time when I needed it most.

There are no words to convey how much I will miss him.

I’m so sad when I have heard about the death of rev. David Wilkerson. He was very special and certanly continues to us here in Brazil. We have been touched by his sermons (me and all my family) and we will never forget him. I’d like to thank God about giving us David Wilkerson. But we know that Jesus is always rising men like him around the world to preach the good news about Jesus. We indeed have to make disciples in all the world as Jesus orderd us in Matthew 28:18-20. The ministry is Jesus’s and rev. We have to imitate the work Davir Wilkerson did that was “making disciples”.

After a long time since when l saw Rev. David Wilkerson movie which l rented in a store in Fort Collins Colorado in the 80s l was reminded of him again before the election in Kenya of 2007. There was a lot of fear and prophecies were pouring in. Somebody at work talked about a pastor from USA who had invited a whole lot of Pastors from all over Kenya for a seminar in the city Nairobi. I was interested in seeing the DVD which l was offered by one of my Pastors who attended the seminar. Little did l know that the events to unfold were around the corner. I was delighted to see that the pastor was Rev. Wilkerson a kind of reunion. Recently one of my friends at work started sharing with me devotions from Rev. Wilkerson which l always made sure that l read. They carried the same weight spiritually as his work in the book “the cross and the switch blade” which l read when l was a young man. I came to know the LORD in 1986 after a short while l went to study in USA. Just the other day the same pastor who gave me the DVD came to visit our church in his normal rounds, it was heard to believe my ears, in his sermon he said a great man of gone has gone to be with the LORD Rev. Wilkerson, l was temporarily dumbfounded, my old friend and mentor is gone, it took time for it to sink in l blurted dead? All the same since then l recovered and now l understand from his sermons that it actually was not an accident but time to go home. The searching eye of the LORD found this devoted man of God to work with who has impacted wisdom all over the world to all willing to listen. May the mighty hand of our God remember his siblings and heal his beloved wife, as they continue the good work with the rest of the servants of the most high.

As with many, the Cross and the Switchblade was my introduction to Brother Dave. During a difficult time in my life I wrote him a letter and received a letter from his sister (Ruth I think) with details of how I had been prayed for. Though it was many years ago, I still have the letter because it made me realize how big God and His people are. God has people everywhere available to help others. Thank you Lord for the life and ministry of David Wilkerson!

I just found out late last night about David Wilkerson’s death. What’s weird is that I used to get his newsletter until about 13 years ago. I was attending a new mega church in my area and found his prophecies to be irrelevant. About a year ago, the Lord put David Wilkerson on my heart and I began to recognize that his prophecies about worldwide recession and some major disaster in New York was brought to fruition with the onset of recession after the 9/11 attacks. Indeed, I saw that the 9/11 attacks as part of his prophecies as well. I never really followed up with David Wilkerson despite these revealings and was shocked when I learned of his untimely death in a car accident nearly two months ago. I am saddened and contrite about my lack of followup and attention to the prompting of the Holy Spirit to pray for this man. I know that he is walking on streets of gold with Jesus and my family members who went to be with the Lord. May God hold his widow in his arms and comfort her and their children and grandchildren in these months and time ahead. A great man and warrior for Christ has surely left this earth.

The pure in heart shall see God.
Help me Lord to be a Wise Virgin, pure and clean before you.
I was moved greatly by the Cross and the Switchblade movie/book when I was in High School. Many students wept. We were in boarding school without our parents, but we went to the movie together. I heard “The Vision” in 1973 at my church. Now David has gone. The world just isn’t the same.
Purify my heart O God. Whatever you have to do to make me pure. I am ready to do your will. I am ready to die. Please help me to be a bright light for you.
    Thank you Jesus.

David Wilkerson has impacted my life for 50 years, and continues to do so through his newsletters and daily devotionals. I just watched “A Tribute to David Wilkerson” that was played at his memorial service. Is it possible to buy a DVD of this video?

    • Liz Ramirez

I love Pastor Wilkerson. Though we never spoke, the Lord allowed me to sense how tender and loving he was. He loved the Lord with all His might, so much that it hurt him many times, and he loved people deeply, more than any other preacher I know. I could almost feel his pain sometimes: His pain for the lost, his pain for the poor, and his pain for the backslidden believers. There is a picture of him at Times Square Church that always touches my heart. It reminds me of the prophet Moses and hurts me to think that his death is a great loss for the world which desperately needs more men like him. He inspires me to love and follow Jesus in the same way he did. I know he was very tired, there was no greater yearning in his heart than to be with his Lord. He’s now in Glory in the arms of Him whom he loved until death and one day all those whose lives have been impacted by his testimony will get to say “thank you” in heaven. They will thank him for his faithfulness to the Lord and for never giving up despite all the trials, sufferings, and pains he had to go through while here on this earth. Oh my this is hard for me to write even now after 4 months, and not ever personally meeting Bro.Dave. I loved him so much for his words which flowed from the Father’s heart to his have spoken so loud to my heart and my own situations in life so many times, I miss him and his messages of wisdom which hve strengthened me so often are now taken away. It doesn’t seem fair that the 3 spiritual mentors in my life are now all gone on to be with Jesus. Adrian Rogers,David Wilkerson and my own pastor Bro.Al Hollingsworth are the men of God whom I could look to and KNOW that they would always lead me right, ones to whom I could follow KNOWING that they were following Jesus Christ!!! That has meant so much to me and now I have no one to whom I can turn to that I may ask guidance or advise or words of wisdom. Please pray for me that my zeal for the Lord would return and my prayer life once again soar as it use to, I lost my son 3 years ago as a result of a car wreck where he was a passenger then 2 years ago I lost my pastor/mentor now I’ve lost Bro.Dave and it hurts sooo bad. Everthing has just not funtioned the way it use to and I need the Lord to preform a miracle in my life especially my prayer life. Please send up a small prayer for me and I will send a prayer up for you as well. Thank you for keeping Bro.Dave’s messages alive! Kindest Blessings Be upon You,

To Debra Stover, and to all believers alike, many men of God has gone to be with the Lord. For those that find themselves without a preacher of truth, for those seeking Gods word and His Holy guidance our pastor James Reynolds and his son Stephen Reynolds are men of God. I never got to meet you dear and wonderful brother David, I know you are in a greater glory now enjoying the promised peace you have been longing for since you were born in Christ. We are of many myriads that miss you, yout shepard heart, your willingness to let His Spirit speak through you despite the loud chants of political correctness surrounding you. I wish I would have the grace to pray and worship with you, just for one day you praying for me for more diligence and presence in Christ. Your sermon ‘ Christ-less pentecost’ came as a sword of light in the fall of 2003, cutting through my spiritual and emotional confusions, as of then I have regarded you as a live prophet and a beacon of guidance. In 2005 I finished my studies at the Teen Challenge Bible School in Sweden, it was truly one of the periods of my life, we came to New York to do our practice in May 2005, I got the privilege to hear your preach Christ live,to hear your tender voice, it made a profound impact for my journey. I wish I would have the moment of seeing you and on my knees telling you how God has blessed me through you, inviting you to my home, we would have a wonderful time.
I long for even more now to see you in glory on the day the Lord so wishes, to see you be at peace with your tears dried after much of hard and tormenting battle on earth, but Lord pulled you through ,by Divine power and grace He was always at your side, sometimes carrying you ,being the Divine Shepard He declared Himself to be. So what is left to say? I guess I will have to live life having you in my heart ,keeping inside what is left to pour out before you,
till I see you again dear and wonderful brother, I will miss you,
your’s truly in Christ, your brother Tomas in Sweden

brother tomas I just read your thoughts about our dearly beloved David Wilkerson and I must say it really touched my heart too. I also was confused with so many anti Christ’s voices in my ear that only led me to confusion. Brother David was the only one who could preached the issues of my heart and now He suppers with Christ in Heaven, He was so ready to go and be with His Master in glory and now he’ll be sitting next to Christ talking about his crowns he gained when many rejected the the hard fields for the green field because there is a lot spirit moving in the church they are putting their tents close to Sodom instead of the valley of hope, and faith, suffering and patience in the truth. Brother I will like to be your friend and thank you for writing so beautiful words about our brother David.

A true man of God – I cannot think of his death without mourning the loss of a man who has helped me so much in my spiritual life – such a man of humility and one whose only aim in life was to please The Lord Jesus. I miss him so much even though I have never seen him in person or spoken to him. May God raise up for us more men like him, to reveal His Love to us who are so lost. God bless His family and their ministry.

1 year ago Brother David Wilkerson went to be with his precious Jesus, A true man of God who stood on Gods promises even when the situation looked unattainable, believed God despite what the world said, praised God through all his trails, Stood strong in discouragement, encouraged others in their faith, and against incredible odds Believed God could do the Impossible..It has been a privilege to have met and heard Brother Dave speak, so greatly encouraged my faith and walk in Jesus…”Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained from the World.” James 1v27 This is how I saw David Wilkerson…Thank You Jesus for this privilege and honor to hear Brother Dave. I stumbled across this tribute video on someone’s blog. I was very touched to watch this account of his life. I always knew David Wilkerson was a world changer like Billy Graham. I’m sure they will be neighbors one day in heaven…both living in a glorious heavenly home.

David Wilkerson has been a blessing to me since my teenage years after reading the cross and the switchblade. May we all be bold to walk in faithful obedience to the one who loves us most, in Jesus name.
